I think the most annoying threads go a little something like this:
Obscure, vague, leading question?
I have my own ideas on this but I'd like to see what others have to say.
This is followed 20 post later after feeble attempts at leading a conversation to their still unmentioned opinion.
This is followed by expressed frustration that people don't agree with their still unmentioned opinion.
It ends with the expression of the mystery opinion coupled with derision for the people who didn't get and/or agree the previously unmentioned opinion.
It would save everyone the drama to express the opinion in the OP. The same conversation seems to ensue either way.

I guess the theory is that you can't lose an arguement if you don't state a position. It is frustrating.

It's been a few forumites recently, but it happens all the time, in most every discussion forum, it just seems to happen more in the phil and religion threads.
I've never had an opinion and would never post such if I did.

I have an opinion on everything. Fortunately for you guys, I usually keep it to myself.

As a child, i was taught that it is ill-bred and ill-mannered to discuss religion or politics in polite society. Add philosophy to that, and you distill my experience of discussion fora.

Don't take this the wrong way, not like you seem to be thin skinned or anything. When I first got here I disliked your posts as trollish, and many of them are. But when you get into a serious discussion you have a formiddable presentation and are always well versed in what you are presenting. So I have come around it seems.

damn, all I was taught was to turn off the light before peeing off the front porch. I blame my grandfather for not teaching me filosofy.
How does everyone feel about the idea that Set is a troll?
I'll be back in 20 posts to vaguely indicate why I am asking.
Oh, I forgot to mention....
It will well be worth the effort to guess as to why I am bringing this up.
