he's excited about eating.

One of my cats does the same thing. I've also thought of it as sort of a skating motion, which you are not going to notice if you have a carpet. Anyhow, I don't take it as especially complimentary.

Some years ago, he also had the habit of sticking a paw into the kibble and flipping a piece out onto the floor. Then he'd chase it down and kill it. I was okay with that, sincehe always ate what he killed.
