@Ionus,

First, Babe Ruth was a giant amongst men, then he became a giant amongst giants, but he was never a Giant.

The socks (or more correctly, Sox) on the occasion for his 40th home run, would have been Red.

Pogo has a daily trivia game. It lasts around five minutes. You can make up games you miss or fail at, but there's just the one go round per day.

Sometimes I'm right, and sometimes I'm wrong. No big deal either way.

What drives me nuts is people who insist on being right about OPINIONS. There is no right or wrong with an opinion. It's what you think or believe. It's not what is.

My mother once said to me,"I'm entitled to my opinion, and you don't have one."

'Nuff said.

Why? I find the strong difference of opinion, and the willingness to stand on them, exhilarating. For much the same reason I LIKE it when my woman is different from me and does not agree will me. I always think back to the movie "Parenthood" where granny talks about people liking calm and peaceful in their relationships and life, "like the merry-go-round" but then says that "all you do is go around, what fun is that? I always liked the roller coaster...... you get more out of it"..or that is my memory of the dialog anyways.

@hawkeye10,
I'm not suggesting that you don't disagree, debate, discuss, whatever. Fine if you want to try to persuade someone to agree with you.

What I am suggesting is that if you're discussing, debating, or arguing about a matter of opinion, neither of you is "right."

on most everything I take the position that I dont know, however when I think I do know the truth I take the position that I am right until and unless someone shows me where I am wrong. I think were we get into trouble at a2k is that to many people are not listening, are not open to having their minds changed.

@hawkeye10,
The "truth" is not a matter of opinion. How we choose to interpret it can be.

So I suppose I should answer the question...... The last major thing that I changed my mind on in part because of the people at a2k was Palin, as in Sarah. I decided that she is lazy and self absorbed and that she will let her talents go to waste. Before that I thought I knew why she was connecting and I thought that she could be a transformational figure for progress in America. Before that I thought she was a joke, so I have decided that I was wrong on her twice.

@Joe Nation,
Very Happy I thought it would generate an answer from someone....I have only ever seen black and white photos of him (I think) and they could have been most colours except black. Red Sox ....I learn something everyday...

@Ionus,
Yep ... according to this site, Babe Ruth hit his 40th home run while he played for the Red Sox:

@tsarstepan,
Of course, when I wrote that answer about Ruth wearing red socks on the occasion of his 40th homerun, I asked myself: "Wait. Yes, he played for the Boston Red Sox then, but how do you know you are right about the Boston Red Sox wearing red socks?"

In other words "Are the Boston Red Sox's socks red?"

Yup.

Suck it, A-Rod!

Note:
Anyone can have an opinion.
Some opinions are based on verifiable facts.
Some opinions are based on biases, misunderstandings and pure spite.
The louder and crankier a person is when stating their opinion is directly proportional to the amount of factual data upon which that opinion is based.

@dyslexia,
People who can never admit mistakes should never be leaders, which is why politicians usually gets themselves into trouble and leads so poorly.

Seen the boss of a newspaper crash his buisness because he couldn't take even the tiniest amount of critique, thus not be able to correct his mistake that he couldn't admit to himself.

Idiots!

Usually I try to correct my mistakes should they happen.
