After all of the hullabaloo, who here still thinks soccer/futbol is an absolute bore?

I was watching the Oscar winning film, The Secret in Their Eyes (2009), a thoroughly highly polished and well made police procedural that also was quite boring because of the slow pacing and even duller characters. Struggling through the slow drying cement of a film when an hour into it, the story went to ... of all places... a big time soccer match. Rolling Eyes

That broke my spirit completely so I had to shut the movie off before exposing myself to a even more painful death by boredom experience!

Evidently my smidge is bigger than yours.

Also, clearly you have to include the endzones in the length of an NFL field, which makes the field 120 yards long.

Will Brazil miss the goal with 2014 World Cup?
Brazilians are concerned that mismanagement of the World Cup and the Olympics Games will squander the country's chance to build needed infrastructure and improve government.

I'd rather watch someone getting his limbs hacked off and decapitated than watch soccer. Oh wait, in Brazil, you can do both!

@joefromchicago,
Did I read this tragedy right? After the ref stabbing the player (at some point in time at this match?), irate fans killed the ref and put his head on a stick?

Wait, I think I have understated it:

"They reportedly tied up the referee, beat him, stoned him, lynched him, and then quartered him. When they finished, they cut off his head and placed it on a stake in the center of the field."

Were there no cops at this match? Do they need soldiers posted at these matches?

@Fil Albuquerque,
No dead bodies, though, right?

Violence anywhere is deplorable and beanball should be outlawed. However, dustups are hardly a new dynamic to baseball or USA. Not seeing how this related to the deaths in this scenario in Brazil.

Considering the pitcher reaction, it seems that where it did hit Puig wasn't intended. Ian Kennedy has a history of wildness and sadly hitting batters above the shoulder. Kennedy was tossed out of the game.

I understood it was an amateur match.

@Ticomaya,
So would that mean there'd be not a single cop? Brazil is not a tiny 3rd world country, but heck what do I know from Brazil?

@Ragman,
I've played in a lot of amateur soccer games, with nary a cop in sight. I live in the US ... also not a 3rd world country.
