Huge SC Court Victory for the Rich and Powerful

The five members of the Supreme Court appointed by Republican presidents voted to allow corporations to pour unlimited funds into elections, catastrophically undermining our democracy.

Three of the four Justices who voted against it were appointed by Democratic presidents. The fourth was Justice Stevens, appointed by Ford before the Republican Party decided to become the party of extremists nuts.

@jpn of Seattle,
I saw this two days ago.
This is ridiculous; however some politicians think that many corporations do not funnel the maximum amount of money to their subgroup which is limited and has a monetary cap. Despite this, even if it doesn't have a large effect, this is a precedent for more rights to come for giant corporations.
A powerful group of money cannot have the rights of an individual especially without limitation, because with great power comes great responsibility and most people who have the former don't have the latter.

For once i agree with you.

Corporations may be "legal persons" but they are certainly anti-human in just about every way.

They never die. They have no feelings such as guilt or compassion. They are fundamentally irresponsible because they have "limited liability". The main point of their creation was to create a separate entity from the shareholders for the sake of legal accountability.

A corporation therefore by design doesn't represent even it's own shareholders ( let alone any other humans ) and CAN NOT claim any rights to free speech, which is a human right.

The court is corrupt and the decision was criminal.

@NEUROSPORT,
This decision just might backfire on the Republicans. The case was about the movie about Hillary Clinton. If corporations are now allowed to air movies during a campaign, who makes the best and most emotionally charged movies....Hollywood, which is traditionally liberal. They still haven't forgot Republican Tail Gunner Joe from the 50s.

Hitler produced some nice movies as well. Oh wait, he was a liberal too.

You see your problem is you think corporations are conservative ...

You think corporations actually care about gay or abortion rights one way or the other ...

Or maybe you think corporations care whether you tax them or their employees - they don't ! Either way their cost is the same.

All they want is to make sure their chokehold on the nation is unchallenged. They maintain this chokehold by BEING the government. Liberals love government and government IS coporations therefore Liberals ( without realizing it ) actually love corporations.

And republicans actually ( without realizing it as well ) hate corporations. But end up supporting them because ( just like liberals ) they have got absolutely no clue.

You see how absurd the left-right divide is ? The left hates corporations while the right hates the Government - but the two are the same thing !

If we could understand that we have common enemies we would defeat them - but instead we keep fighting each other - which is the whole point of the Left-Right paradigm. DIVIDE AND CONQUER.

Your problem is that you assume way too much. Everything on this board that you have told me I think, is wrong.

I thought there were four Republicans, four Democrats (including Stevens whom usually votes Democrat now), and one guy who claims (or claimed, I don't know anymore) to be neutral but always votes Republican.
