Couric Wins Walter Cronkite Award | Couric & Co. - CBS News

Evening News anchor Katie Couric was honored for her "extraordinary, persistent and detailed multi-part interviews with Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin" which judges called a "defining moment in the 2008 presidential campaign."

The proverbial "shot heard round the world" as it were, Couric's interview was as revealing as it was damaging. This interview can be credited with starting the avalanche leading to Obama's near-landslide victory and the crack that caused the GOP's foundation to crumble.

Well played, Couric. Hats off to you.
