Iran's supreme leader says President Bush will one day be put on trial for "catastrophes" in Iraq, just as deposed dictator Saddam Hussein was.

"A day will come that the current U.S. president and officials will be tried in an international supreme court for the catastrophes they caused in Iraq," said Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He says Bush will be tried in an international court for the U.S.-led invasion. He says the U.S. will have to explain why it hasn't ended its occupation of Iraq and why the country has been "overwhelmed" by terrorism and insurgency.

The Iranian cleric addressed thousands of worshipers in Tehran today during the first Friday prayer of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

Khamenei mocked this week's congressional testimony by the top American general and diplomat in Iraq, saying, "more than four years have passed since the occupation of Iraq, and today everyone knows that America has failed and is frantically looking for a way out."

The Iranian leader also said that despite U.S. efforts to isolate his nation, it's become even more prosperous and happy.
