More Republican Wrong Doings

Reply Tue 31 Jul, 2007 03:18 pm
Well, add two more Republicans from the frying pan, into the fire, with the latest revelations of wrong doings....Stevens, so bold and stupid as to leave a paper trail to his misdeeds, which will, inevitably, be his "undoing"....and Vitter, holier-than-thou, with his castigation of Bill Clinton, and his decidedly anti-gay stance, getting caught with his drawers down (or his number printed, in some madam's "little black book of Johns".....oh the hypocrisy of it all! Pointing lying fingers. What a joke.
I'm gonna love to hear the spin and the excuses that are bound to come from this...I can hear it now...."this is a private matter", and 'they're only accusations, unproven"....LOLOLOL.....don't make me puke. please. Republicans never take responsibility for anything...you'd think they were incapable of errors...when that would make them inhuman. So which is it? Human "wrong-doers" or Inhuman gods? Pssst. I know the answer.

In May, one current and two former Alaska legislators pleaded not guilty to extortion and taking bribes to support legislation benefiting the company. Days later, Bill Allen, VECO founder and CEO, and a VECO vice president both pleaded guilty to bribing state lawmakers in exchange for votes favoring industry on oil legislation.

• 2000: Renovations on Stevens' home in the ski resort community of Girdwood more than double the house's size. Allen oversaw the project. Contractors said they submitted bills to Allen, then received checks from Stevens.

• Aug. 31 2006: The FBI raided the offices of Stevens' son, then Alaska Senate President Ben Stevens, along with the offices of several other state lawmakers in an investigation of VECO. The younger Stevens has not been charged.

• May 25, 2007: Bob Persons, Stevens' friend and neighbor, was ordered to appear before a grand jury in Washington, the Anchorage Daily News reported. The government directed Persons to submit documents related to the work on Stevens' home in Girdwood, including work tied to VECO and contractors who were hired or supervised by VECO.

• Summer 2007: Barbara Flanders, who serves as a financial clerk for Stevens on the Commerce Committee, testified before a federal grand jury joined by the IRS and the Interior Department. She provided documents regarding the senator's bills, according to an attorney in the case.

• June 2007: Bob Penney, Alaska businessman and associate of Stevens, testified before a grand jury in Anchorage that has gathered information in the corruption cases.

• June 7, 2007: The Washington Post reported that Stevens had hired lawyers and was instructed by the FBI to preserve records relevant to the burgeoning federal investigation.

• July 2007: Stevens told The Associated Press that he's worried that a corruption investigation "could cause me some trouble" in running for re-election next year.

• July 17, 2007: Stevens filed his personal financial disclosure form after receiving a two-month extension to fix what he called a few simple technical errors. Stevens said every bill he and his wife received for renovations to their home was paid "with our own money."

• July 30, 2007: FBI agents executed a search warrant at Stevens' Girdwood home, which included taking photos and training video cameras on the house. An attorney briefed on the raid said officials appeared particularly interested in cases of wine stored in the senator's house.

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) ended a week of seclusion yesterday to say he'll return to work in Washington, ending speculation that the Republican would resign after his telephone number appeared last week in the records of an alleged Washington prostitution ring.

"I want to, again, offer my deep, sincere apologies to all those I have let down and disappointed with these actions from my past," Vitter said in a news conference yesterday in his home city of Metairie. "I am completely responsible. And I am so very, very sorry."

SEN. VITTER: Good afternoon. Last week, Wendy and I thought it was very important to have some time alone with our children, so that's what we did for a few days. We want to thank the countless friends and fellow citizens who have offered their encouragement and prayers. Those have meant the wor...

Vitter, 46, was accompanied by his wife, Wendy. Looking pale and grim, she told reporters that "like all marriages, ours is not perfect" but that "I am proud to be Wendy Vitter."

A week ago, Vitter's telephone number surfaced several times in call records released by Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the alleged "D.C. Madam." The calls were made to Vitter from 1999 to 2001, when he served in the House.

Palfrey, 51, is facing federal racketeering charges for her role in running Pamela Martin and Associates, an escort service that prosecutors say was a prostitution ring. She released the numbers on the Internet last week, as part of her campaign to defend herself.

Vitter, a staunch social conservative known for his outspoken condemnation of Bill Clinton's extramarital dalliance, issued a brief written apology for his "very serious sin" on June 9, then went into hiding, as reporters looking for him camped on his lawn and at his offices in Louisiana and on Capitol Hill.

While Vitter remained in seclusion last week, other disclosures followed Palfrey's, including allegations that he had been a longtime patron of a New Orleans brothel. Its proprietor, Jeanette Maier, appeared on television in Louisiana last week to call Vitter "a very strong man that's able to carry New Orleans where it needs to go."

Vitter denied the brothel allegations yesterday, calling them "falsehoods" spread by "longtime political enemies and those hoping to profit from the situation."

Vitter is the first Republican to represent Louisiana in the Senate since Reconstruction and is Southern regional chairman of former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani's Republican presidential campaign.

He said that he had spent the week at home while the Senate debated the Iraq war because "Wendy and I thought it was very important to have some time alone with our children, so that's what we did for a few days."

@aaronssongs,
The Republican Party is God's gift to American politics. It must triumph at all costs. It must never say die. It must endure every attack and persecution, and fight ever more tenaciously, for the heart and spirit of Traditional America. American Democrats are socialists and sell-outs. They're cowardly, weak, and naive. They're absolutley unqualified to lead the Christian people of the United States. Traditional Americans must consider a future in which the Democratic Party no longer exists, and will not be allowed to exist.
