Hey, Merry Christmas /holidays to all. Hope you have a great time.

Hmmm, if I believe in the continuation of life after "death", does that make me religious?

I have no real idea what God is, but I think there's more to the eye than what most of us know.

When I die, I will be contributing a tiny bit of ash and fertilizer that supports the plant life that sustains the earth's oxygen atmosphere. That's about the best legacy one can leave in addition to any memories by those who knew me.

I read 'em, edgar. Your feelings about family and fellow man are laudatory. I just think its funny (ironic sort of funny) that you get all efusive about it at a time when most of America is celebrating the birth of a deity you believe doesn't exist.

snood, as you know, Christmas is a whole conglomeration of whatever an individual makes it. Your wanting to be contentious is a bit silly.

I just heard of a man who converted to all three of the Abrahamic religions so that he would not feel excluded from any of them. But what about Kwanza?

I appreciate Edgar's attachment to Xmas. I infer (rightly or wrongly) from what he has said in the past, his childhood experiences of Xmas were not the most fulfilling. Is that right, Edgar

My Christmases as a child were wanting materially and conducted under the oppression of a maniacal step father. But, my Mom managed to make Christmas a special day. The best memories of my life.

That makes sense. I was thinking only of your step-monster.
Merry Christmas, Edgar.

A little trivia on christmas. Christmas wasn't called "christmas" over four thousand years ago when this holiday was celebated by the Mesopotamians. They had the parades and gift giving and the celebrations. Christmas is celebrated today in many countries that are not christian.

Let's just enjoy this holiday season as a period of good will and best wishes to all.

That's the way I look at it, too, Edgar. Much like life in general.

well rain, it's an odd story I suppose but my first date was a 16 yr old lady who was 7th day adventist so when I picked her up at her house she gave me a list of what she was not allowed to do, movies/dancing/etc/etc/etc so finally I asked her what she was allowed to do and she said "just drive around behind the barn so we can make-out" that was the total extent of our "date".

Hmm, well that is indeed a bizarre date! Perhaps she was one of those new-fangled 8th Day Adventists?

My best buddy is a Seventh Day Adventist. He's a very decent sort and never pushes his church at me. We have been pals since meeting in the Navy in late 1962. I have always viewed that church as run of the mill, nothing more bizarre than the 700 Club or Billy Graham.
