@GOP Girl,
To my understanding, FLAT Tax means everyone pays the same percentage in taxes let us say its 10% if you make $1000.00 a week then your tax is $100.00 if you make $10,000.00 a week, your tax is $1,000.00

Fair Tax .... I dont know what Fair tax is , I will have to llok that up now.

@GOP Girl,
right now, we;re taxed SOMETHING like this in the US:

annual income: tax percent:
<10,000 3%
10,001-29999 27%
30,000-59999 30%
60-100,000 33%
100+ 35%

those are arbitrary figures i pulled out of my ass, so take them with a grain of salt.

Last year after changing jobs, I got a $35,000 raise.
i took home about 12k more.

because my raise bumped me into the highest tax bracket, i now work twice as hard for 1/3 the pay.

a flat tax, would mean that everyone, no matter income level, is taxed at say 30%

the poor get hurt
the rich get a little break
the middle class doesn't notice.

@GOP Girl,
I favor a consumption tax at say, 17% across the board, payable at point of purchase. The more you buy, the more you pay. Any thing you buy is taxed, no matter who you are or what income level.
Certainly not some sort of VAT ( value added tax) like some Eurpean nations have, where taxes are added at each point in production, then passed on to the consumer in the final price.

@GOP Girl,
Curmy - a question - following your logic, then would there be per-use fees for those that visit public places and venues that are maintained by the municipality... - parks, public beaches, museums, libraries, etc..?
