Bush to issue executive order regarding earmarks

well,

I'm generally not one for executive orders but I can get behind this one, the Democrats have failed to lower pork spending, in fact it's up since they took control of the Senate.

FOXNews.com - Bush, Fresh Off State of the Union, Set to Sign Order Directing Fed Agencies to Ignore Earmarks Not Voted On by Congress - Politics | Republican Party | Democratic Party | Political Spectrum

Take the emergency relief tax rebate bill for example. The President and The House of Reps forged a bill which provided tax relief with no additional spending not a dollar. It gets passed and hits the Senate floor and billions of new spending items are added to it.

That's business as usual on capital hill, hopefully this changed it

@Silverchild79,
I do not understand why anyone would find fault with this solution. Personally, I was proud of the president when he told the senate he would veto any legislation that did not specifically cut earmarks by 50%. You could see the dems seething on the other side of the aisle.

why would they be against it? Simply becuase Bush did it and the media has the majority of people trained well enough that they won't question it

Bush did it, so Dems wont support it, end of statement... I eagerly await someones attempt at why this is a bad idea... I could even place a wager on who will chime in first.

@Silverchild79,
I just have to shake my head over this - that the Dems have such contempt for the president is astonishing to me.

In the dem response, they called for unity. But, it is always on their terms. I do not see bi-partisanship coming from the left.

It's simple "gotcha back" mindset from Clintongate, they've had it out for Bush simply because we drug their boy through the mud

Bu I'll say it, this is a bad idea. We have a huge national debt right now, and we reward ourselves with a shopping spree for every family in America (35 billion will go to families that didn't even pay taxes last year)? It's not sound logic...

@Silverchild79,
I think it's a terrible idea for the reason you mentioned - that individuals that avoided or ignored taxes will be eligible for a refund.

@Silverchild79,
The entire system of taxes is corrupt in one way or another.

The working class pay out huge
the rich write off everything
the lazy pay nothing
