Yes..... It is Le Corbeau, which was remade as The 13th Letter by Otto Preminger.

I saw again Le Corbeau about a month ago it's still very good.

That was a tough one -- I recognized the French actors but could not relate them to one film so I surmised it might be a Clouzot film but which one? Gosh, another film to add to my NetFlix queue.

Pierre Fresnay was a very good actor he reminds me of Fredric March.

Le Corbeau has just been released on the Criterion Collection.

Thanks -- I just added it to my queue. I love mystery thrillers ("Vertigo" is my favorite film).
"Wages of Fear" is an excellent film remade as "Sorcery" and not very well.

It certainly made Altman think twice about ever making another sci-fi film. Makes "The Silver Chalice" look good.
