Where did the term politically incorrect originate?

Wasn't the origin of this term in the communist system?

Doesn't it come from the idea of having political officers in every institution to ensure people think and speak in ways that are acceptable to the oligarchy?

Why then, would US citizens embrace this type of thinking???? :no:

@Volunteer,
Sorry, it reminded me of 1984 the way he characterized it. I doubt that's the true thing that political correctness is trying to accomplish as we know it.

Why the term though? Isn't the effect the same? If the effect is the same, does the intent matter?

@Volunteer,
Except that the anti-politically correct movement is actually stronger than the politically correct movement so for the time being the term is more like something to be ridiculed and is rarely used as something that should be done.

@Volunteer,
But it is rarely supported as 'PC' (the term is usually used by opponents) and it's a lot different than possible racist remarks. Lies which are perpetrated in the name of making everything in the world is nice like Islam is a religion of peace or whatever is PC.

@Volunteer,
I was watching CNN last night, and some rappers mom was being interviewed The rappers name started with a K i can't remember now, but the point is... She was asked (and I paraphrase) Was it right that Imus was fired but we allow your son and the the many others to say that and worse on their albumns.

Response:"I am still personally reflecting on that issue. I think there is a place and a context for everything"

I translated that as, Crackers better not talk abiut my niggaz.

@Volunteer,
PC has been around forever..Word was Shakespsear write political correctness into his plays because English monarchs had a habit of beheaded political enemies ....Macbeth for instance
Under Scottish traditions most of what Macbeth did aside from murdering the two kids would have been absolutely proper...the Scots did not recognize the inheritence of the oldest son...so under Scottish law malcom had no claim greater than any other ...blah blahblah the point is it has always been a fact of life it just depends on which set of standards is in common practice
