Hatred hurled from the left towards Christians, why?

I've noticed several posters who are left leaning or liberals have nothing but contempt for Christians and Religion. Why, I'm curious where this hatred stems from? Also they claim the moral high ground yet they don't appear to stand for anything. So what is the cause of this hatred? I'm curious about the origins of their hate and loathing.

@Red cv,
Probably because most social, and global problems are because of religion. Religious fanatics to be more specific, but not limited to, constantly trying to force their views on everyone that doesn't agree with them. Pro-Lifers are some of the worst, but then you have muslims, and their radicals ******* up the WHOLE world. And there's a LOT of comtempt for the zionist support the US seems to want to unconditionally give to Israel. Then, they have the gall to talk about "tolerance", while chiding gays, and women that want the choice to have children or not.

@Red cv,
I am a christian.

And if you read my post in the welcome thread here you will find a christian who does not agree with this stupid deadly war.

A christian who knows you cannot legislate morality , so there fore does not consider abortion or gay marriage a voting issue.

I am a christian who often finds myself on opposing sides from posters on these forums who claim to be christians , because they are hypocritical and not really following the teachings of Jesus.

just like 92B said above religious people have a tendency to try to force their beliefs down everybody elses throats . That never works. Doesn't matter if your a christian , muslim, or buddist. You cannot make others live to your standards. And Christ never told us to be involved in world governments and changing them.

So yes hypocrites of all faiths do get given a hard time as well they should.

America has legislated morality from the beginning. That's why we have laws that say you cannot murder, or you cannot steal, ect. And many of these laws were based on the 10 commandments. Jesus tells us that Christians should be the light on the hill, and that we should not hide that light. And that is the problem for a nation that hates the light. They killed Jesus because they hated His words, and Jesus tells us we should not be surprised if the worlds hates us, and then tells us, remember, they hated me first.

@Campbell34,
I agree campbell to a certain extent.

I agree and laws need to be kept to the basics like the 10 commandments.

I do follow Jesus and the teachings of Jesus tell us to forgive seven times seventy. To pray for our enemies and to not return evil for evil.

I find when I point out this to so called christians they get upset.

they say things like the old testament is full of war , and are we expected to not defend ourselves.

I say we can mind our own business, close down our borders and stay out of wars that is the way to follow Jesus , not to invade other countries.

Funny thing is when I say this Jesus 's words do ring true. The world and its so called christians hate me for pointing out they are going against the teachings of our Lord.

I'm almost certain, that you're referring to me...so, let me address your concerns.
I do not have contempt for Christians, I, being one myself (having grown up "in the Episcopal church, and attending an Episcopal boys school for 3 years, where "mass" or morning and evening prayer was "celebrated", 6 days out of 7)...although I have some doubts about "organized religion" in this country, and as a result have become less religious, and more spiritual.
What I do have contempt (bordering on "hatred") for is "faux" Christians, who whip up the flames of hatred and intolerance (totally against the teachings of Christ), against those they see as "other", or "less righteous" than they, themselves....holier-than-thou's.
I don't see myself "claiming the moral high ground", as I doubt that most anyone can, being "human', and therefore, having sinful nature.
And I don't know where you get off assuming that I, or anyone else, for that matter, "doesn't stand for anything".....no, I just don't stand for what you stand for...big difference. And my right. The difference is I don't look down my nose, and attempt to judge what you believe as immoral, contemptible, or wrong...that is entirely between you , your conscience, and the God of your understanding. Far be it from me, to dictate what is right, moral or just to or for you...I am but a poor lamb, trying to find my own way.

NO ! I am not judging.

I am clearly stating what the bible says!

Making a clear statement of fact is not judging Drnaline!

Facts are facts!

All the lies in the world cannot change the facts.

Satan wishes it were so , but in the end God will win and the lies of Satan will be exposed.

@Red cv,
And Drnaline

Remember the scripture that says.

You will be judged with what measure you judge others ?

I am well aware of this scripture when talking with folks.

But I know I am not in danger here.

I am a christian who does not want to invade other countries and kill innocent people.

I am a christian who does not support a war monger president.

I am a christian who does not think muslims are our mortal enemies.

Yep! I am sure I am going to be judged rather leniently .

Because live by Christs doctrine to Love above all else.

To not return evil for evil.

To forgive seven times seventy.

To pray for my enemies as I do for people like you Dranaline.

Yep I am secure my heart is right as per the teachings of Christ.

How about you Dranaline?

Yup, i new you'd say that. When we do it that's what you call it but when you do it, it's different?

How do you feel about people invading your home or wanting to kill your family? Is it the same for your neighbor?

Well withing your right and opinion.

I don't either, but i do have issues with extremist Muslims. What is your opinion of them?

I wonder if that holds true for the lord. Time will tell.

That is assuming your personal interpritation is correct. There is a certain amount of contempt in your posts for instance using "so called". Your not stating fact, your stating what you judged to be fact. Through personal opinion. I think that is one of the things Jesus taught us not to do yet with confidence you assert you don't have to worry about it. What do you think Jesus would say of your contempt of us and him in who is judging whom.

With you leading the way, is there any other thing to do but follow you off the cliff, LOL.

@Red cv,
I know where I stand with the Lord.

I also know that when people claim to be following the teachings of Christ and are way off it is not judgmental to point out they do not know what they are talking about.

As for self defense , one can never say what they will do till confronted by the situation drnaline.

I did shoot a man in the knee once who was breaking into my home. In the knee not to kill him. But I bet he still thinks of me on rainy days when that knee acts up. :p

The point is drnaline we could have protected our own borders very well and stopped terrorism, then Jesus would have nothing against us.

With the invasion of Iraq many hundreds of thousands have died and many innocent women and children. That is what Jesus will now have against this nation. The deaths of innocents.

That's the problem. I think you do know and you won't say. There is not a human on this planet that is not capable of killing. For the right reason. You and I are the same all we are argueing is where our point is.

Oh no we are not the same.

because I might injure a human.

But I would never intentionally kill a human being.

WHY?

Because I follow the teachings of Christ!

And I will not go to my judgment with blood on my hands.

@Red cv,
Deep down, true Lefties are Marxists. Marxists are atheistic. Karl Marx hated religion, and dubbed it 'the opiate of the masses'. Christians should never trust Communists, and that includes those who sneak around under the cover of 'Socialist'.

Oh that's beautiful...a world where only you understand what you say and write...uh, I am not the only one who has trouble making sense out of your postings...and if two or more folks are in agreement...you might want to be introspective....'cuz it would be 'you' with the problem. Word.
