Meet the new drug runners.Cash-strapped New Yorkers fed up with astronomical prices for prescription drugs are beating a path to Canada, where many are cutting their drug bills in half. And it's not just seniors eking by on fixed incomes who are lured by the cheap prices.A growing number of elected officials nationwide - including Mayor Bloomberg - are hoping to reel in skyrocketing medical costs with the help of Canadian imports, even if it means thumbing their noses at federal laws.
There was legislation pending in congress to allow for the reimportation of drugs into the US. This legislation has seemingly fallen off the table. Just who and what is our government protecting the health of the American citizen or the profits of the pharmaceutical industry.
