I think this is a very tough question, but based on the last recent attack it's pretty obvious of who is causing the most trouble?

@rex b,
One word, Yes! People race profile every day, it's common. When you go apply for a job one of the first things they ask you is you race! Is that racial profiling, yes and who does it, the government. For social service's they say the info is required? In the modern work place is you are a minority you get preferential treatment. When you go to college what is the first thing they ask? Isn't having a hispanic student union racial? Why don't you ever see white student unions? I believe they do this to correct what they perceive to be discrimination imbalances, but at the cost of hypocracy. Whats good for the goose is not good for the gander? It's not a tough question for me, as i see it most every body does it! It may be humanitarely incorrect but it is definetly security correct.

@rex b,
We simply MUST profile in the war against terror !
It is obvious who is targeting us and we are not doing enough about it . The Islamic Radicals have stated their objectives , we need to check every one of them when they come to the US and if they don't like it , too bad !

@rex b,
Found this.

To ensure we Americans never offend anyone -- particularly
fanatics intent on killing us -- law enforcement and security
screeners are not allowed to "profile" people in public places or
security checkpoints. However, they will continue to perform
random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots
with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members
of the President's security detail, 85-year-old congressmen with
metal hips and even Medal of Honor recipients. But targeting
Middle Eastern male Islamists between the ages 17 and 40
constitutes "ethnic profiling."

(d) Middle Eastern Islamist males between the ages of 17 and 40.

President George Bush said this week, "America is at war with
Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us
who love freedom, to hurt our nation." The Council on
American-Islamic Relations issued an immediate objection to the
President's reference to "Islamic fascists". Nihad Awad,
executive director of CAIR protested, "We have to isolate these
individuals because there is nothing in the Koran or the Islamic
faith that encourages people to be cruel or to be vicious or to
be criminal. Muslims world wide know that for sure." In light of
this objection, we are left to ponder why every Islamic leader in
the U.S., and the world, does not publicly condemn every terror
action being undertaken in the name of the god of Islam. Their
silence is deafening...

Between 1970 and present, there were more than 60 other notable
examples of terrorism perpetrated by Middle Eastern male
Islamists between the ages 17 and 40, but we think you get the
point. Singling out "Middle Eastern male Islamists between the
ages 17 and 40" is not "ethnic profiling," it's "terrorist
profiling" -- acting on prolific evidence.

Anyone for Terrorist Profiling?

@Drnaline,
I just regestered, but I wanted to put my thoughts in too. It irritates me that when its one group of people doing these crimes, we can't just check them; no, we have to check everyone else so it isn't "racial profiling." Who cares if they're offended? The fact is only Middle Eastern Islamic Men between the ages of 17 and 40 are causing ism, and we should be allowed to act accordingly without people being "offended."

@fluidambient,
If a person looks muslim, he most likely is one.
If they go by their book, the koran, they will be violent.
The koran preaches to kill the infidels and tells them not to be friends with jews and christians, etc
Needless to say, we need to watch them when they come into the country.
They have openly declared their intentions: Destruction of the US and Israel.

Bonaparte, how much of the Quran have you read? A page? Two pages? Or do you get all your information about it just from authority?

Not so for about 90% of Muslims . The Koran is interpreted to say that by radicals , the ones we are at war with .

Now that part of your statement I can agree with .

I did read the whole thing, bought one after the New York attack.
Most people believe all the junk about "peaceful" muslims.
Most people have no idea what the koran is about, I talked to some "muslims" who didn't have a clue about the koran either!!

Real muslims go by their book.

"Peaceful muslims" don't go by their book. They are not real Muslims.

Lol, you pulled that 90% right out of your hat and what is there to "interpreted"???

Is there another way to "interpreted" the this::

"Make war on them until idolatry is no more and Allah's religion reigns supreme." (Koran 8:37)
The Koran instructs not to make friendship with Jews and Christians (Koran 5:51) but to war against them: "When the Sacred Months are over, kill those who ascribe partners to God wheresoever ye find them; seize them, encompass them, and ambush them; then if they repent and observe prayer and pay the alms, let them go their way (Koran 4:5). "Fight against those who believe not in God nor in the Last Day, who... refuse allegiance to the True Faith from among those who have received the Book, until they humbly pay tribute out of hand." (Koran 9:29) Note: These verses distinguish between warfare against pagans, and against Jews and Christians.[17]
"...kill the disbelievers wherever we find them" (Koran 2:191); "fight and slay the Pagans, seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem" (Koran 9:5); "murder them and treat them harshly" (Koran 9:123).
"Seize ye him, and bind ye him, And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! So no friend hath he here this Day. Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, Which none do eat but those in sin." (Koran 69:30-37)
"Strike off the heads of the disbelievers"; and after making a "wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives" (Koran 47:4).
"Instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers"; "smite above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them" (Koran 8:12; cp. 8:60).
"O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern against them. Their abode is Hell - an evil refuge indeed" (Koran 9:73).
"slay or crucify or cut the hands and feet of the unbelievers, that they be expelled from the land with disgrace..." (Koran 5:34).
"for them (the unbelievers) garments of fire shall be cut and there shall be poured over their heads boiling water whereby whatever is in their bowels and skin shall be dissolved and they will be punished with hooked iron rods" (Koran 22:19-22)

For crying out loud this sounds pretty clear to me what they are instructed to do to "unbelievers" ( the non-muslims), unless you have a different "interpretation", Curmudgeon................................

The figure was of course a generalization .

Do you think the Koran cannot be interpreted in different ways by different sects? It is most certainly done , as witness the rifts between Sunnis and Sheites . Just as Christian groups have different interpretations of the Bible .
Some Muslims beleive the Koran has not changed at all since it was compiled ( written , collected , whatever ) , despite the fact that just rewriting into modern Arabic , English , or any other language would necessarily change a meaning or intent here and there , again , just as hs occurred with the Bible .

Point is , going " by the book " is no guarantee of following the original concepts of the book .
