I just wanted to give my .02 on this, and it's my opinion. Either like it or hate it.

I seem to always here we need to give our authorities more power to track these terrorists, and oh what a great example we have by the British with this recent plot failed.

I think the point that most people miss is that yes it's easy to give those powers to the govt to put to use for good. Nobody is denying that. But lets take for example the Brits, yes they have given a lot more power to the govt. but are they are world dominator? No. Look at Pakistan, they have those powers and are they a word dominator? No. Most places I look at that give the govt such powers are the ones that bombings all the time or are 3rd world countries.

This country was built on a set of principles, and it was those principles that got us to where we are today. Why should we throw them to the side to protect ourselves from terrorist? An enemy that can be as blind as they want.

I hope my point is coming across as I don't like to type very much.. heh

@rex b,
We don't need to give our government more power , we just need them to do what they should to protect us , and it seems they aren't sometimes . Probably because of the "political correctness" that is being foisted upon us by mislead , but well-meaning leftists and their followers .

@rex b,
My first question is how many plots would we of uncovered have NYT printed there sheit. My thought is that they have been looking at this one longer then that? Are problem is we live by a certain set of rules. To bad the people wanting us dead don't follow our rule of law. Hence infringment on what we believe to be are rights. Without that vale of security our government provides and forces to back it up, are Constitution means nothing other then what you are willing to sacrifice. My advise, get a gun. You may need it for the government, but if they fail you sure will need it for the terrorists!

@Drnaline,
I can see it now Drnaline. You'll have the American flag drapped around you as the final coup d'etat of the terrorists is implemented. You'll watch on your TV screen as thousands of the towelheads surround the capital building and put chains on all of the politicians. Then 10 of these guys bust in out of nowhere into your house as you fish out the pistol you hid underneath your couch. "YOU WON'T TAKE MY FREEDOMS YOU TERRORISTS" you'll scream as you start to fire blindly at them. Suddenly you feel a thud against the back of your head from which you can only assume was the butt of one of their rifle's and as you slowly drift from consciousness you'll curse your government for not wiping out the terrorist poison sooner.

.....This is obviously a fictional story, just showing you that "getting a gun to combat terrorism" will obviously never be useful.

My problem is that when will they give that power back... and the answer is they won't. Its just the nature of government to grow. I find the whole Military Commissions Act and the revised Insurrection Act terrifying.
