Country Alliances

I think the obvious cons of conflicting views (hah) and competing allies are the main problems. I think they're usually a good idea though.

I think alliances are necessary politically .
Cons would be cases such as when the allied countries' needs and goals change , either due to policy or regime change , and perhaps when one ally is attacked by a third party that may be allied with the other country already allied by another treaty with the first country .

I do not believe this world would be prodominately democratic in it's civilized countrys. If it were not for certain alliances.
