The Blotter: Document: Iran Caught Red-Handed Shipping Arms to Taliban

NATO officials say they have caught Iran red-handed, shipping heavy arms, C4 explosives and advanced roadside bombs to the Taliban for use against NATO forces, in what the officials say is a dramatic escalation of Iran's proxy war against the United States and Great Britain.

"It is inconceivable that it is anyone other than the Iranian government that's doing it," said former White House counterterrorism official Richard Clarke, an ABC News consultant.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates stopped short earlier this week of blaming Iran, saying the U.S. did not have evidence "of the involvement of the Iranian government in support of the Taliban."

@Drnaline,
At this point Iran has done more against us then Germany had when we declared war on them in WWII

but the public will still not want war because it's not convenient for them, realistically at this point we'd have to open the draft or do some real conservation of convenience goods like we did in WWII and entitled America won't hear of it.

@Drnaline,
Well Saudi Arabia is also arming 50% of the insurgents in Iraq, they are no friend of democratic countries.

@Drnaline,
"It is inconceivable that it is anyone other than the Iranian government that's doing it," said former White House counterterrorism official Richard Clarke, an ABC News consultant.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates stopped short earlier this week of blaming Iran, saying the U.S. did not have evidence "of the involvement of the Iranian government in support of the Taliban."

But an analysis by a senior coalition official, obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com, concludes there is clear evidence of Iran's involvement.

So, there really isn't any "document" and no arms from Iran have actually been seen or actually caught changing hands with Iraq...definitive proof most definitely.

Germany declared war on the US after Pearl Harbor (Dec 11, 1941 to be exact)......so we declared back. Iran hasn't declared war on us, so no, they haven't done more than Germany.

The public doesn't want war because Iran hasn't DONE anything to harm us. The SecDef said there was NO EVIDENCE of Iranian government involvement.
