BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Conservative favorite Nicolas Sarkozy is on course to win France's presidential election run-off on Sunday with between 53 and 54 percent of the vote, Belgian media reported.

The RTBF public broadcasting station and the newspapers Le Soir and La Libre Belgique reported on their Web sites that unofficial estimates showed Sarkozy beating Socialist Segolene Royal comfortably.

French law bans the publication of any exit polls or projections in France until after the last polling stations close in big cities at 8 p.m. (1800 GMT).

@Drnaline,
yeah he's a socialist but his international policies come as close to mirroring ours as you can find

now all we need is Gulliani to get elected to remove the nasty image of Bush the rest of the world has and we'll have some real international cohesiveness

@Drnaline,
I'll hold out for Fred Tompson or Newt. Romney would be my third.

@Drnaline,
I don't agree with Rudy on everything, but I see him as having the platform that will most unite America on a moderately conservative ground.

@Drnaline,
i think rudy's abortion stance is going to hurt him in the long run. there are a lot of folks who like him and what he did for the city, but might sway away with what he might be able to do with abortion laws...

@Drnaline,
I here this over and over and I just want to scream "dead issue"

so many Americans are pinned up on this, I'm personally pro-life, but I realize Row V Wade isn't going away

Bush got two terms, you will not find a bigger opponent of abortion then a Southern Baptist. How much closer will the GOP be to illigalizing abortion on Jan 1st 2009? not a step closer...

it's time for the right to realize that America has spoken on this issue

@Drnaline,
i agree to some extent, yet its probably the #1 or #2 question asked of politicians during debates. why is that?

@Drnaline,
because it's a polarizing question, same as hte same sex marriage question. By establishing your awnser on these questions 9/10 people who oppose you on the issue will automatically tune you out.

Debates aren't about winning an argument so much as they are about striking people from your voters pool

Guliani has that American hero thing going though, that overcomes allot

@Drnaline,
if i were a politician, i would answer these types of questions like this:

"I am not a woman, and thus I have no right to even express an opinion on the topic of abortion"

"I am not gay, so i can't possibly know what they are going through or their needs/wants for marriage."

It may be a dead issue to you, but it is not to many. Rowe V wade will be overturned. It's a matter of time, worst case it will be handed back to the states, but it will be repelled IMO. A hispanic catholic southern baptist, not much difference to me.

@Drnaline,
Sarkozy's not a socialist, is he? He's all about making France work harder to get what it needs, etc. I'm glad he won. It made up for Prodi winning in Italy (I follow this sort of stuff.)

You know Dred Scott wasn't overturned for a while either. We're close to overturning Roe v. Wade, just look at what they decided in late term abortions before.

@Drnaline,
the late term and partial birth stuff should have been done away with, Amercia doesn't like them

but the majority of Americans think Abortion should be legal, and we're a democracy, so it should remain legal

Sarkozy's a right right Neo Con, and he also dislikes women or appears to. Other than that he's a breath of fresh air.

What i read from your link shows me the opposite. The first three polls i looked at. The main answers was against abortion?
Quote:
LA poll. 41% favored making abortion illegal with a few exceptions.
CBS poll. 37% favor stricter limits. This is a decrease of one percentage point from a similar poll on 2003-JAN.
CNN poll. 55% responded sometimes legal. This is an increase of 1 percentage point from a similar poll in 1975

On the fourth collective poll, i find it strainge they use May and June then skip four months and go to November? They trying to scue it a little, maybe? In any case i really didn't see anything in there that says "the majority of Americans think Abortion should be legal?"

Crush the Left, wherever we find it. Wage war against all enemies of Christendom, both external and internal. Do so without mercy.
