@ndjs,
Bringing Iran to the U.N. Security Council is one thing, imposing sanctions is another. China and Russia are trading partners with Iran with both being heavily invested in oil contracts and exploration of oil fields. I don't see either country giving a lot of support to shutting off the flow of oil. They are supporting taking Iran to the U.N.S.C., but I havn't seen any statements from China, Russia, or India saying they they would support sanctions.
Iran seems dead set on enriching urainum, claiming it is their Holy right. Everything is Holy over there, so thats no surprise, but it does get the radicals riled up, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad uses this to show support for his stand against the West.
The Iran Freedom Support Act is tabled in both the House and Senate. They have been sitting on H.R. 282 for a year, which has provisions in it to support a regime change or anyone willing to support a democratic form of government. That tells me that the U.S. might have plans of it's own. There seems to be enough support for the bill.
I'm just hoping the U.S. doesn't take the lead in this mess. Be firm, just not be the first one to jump on the table hollaring and preaching about Iran.
Israel has the most to lose, along with any other country doing business in Iran. Convince Russia and China to play a bigger role in making Iran see the light.
