I can see it being justified to save France from another country, but I see no reason why we should save them from themselves

I don't understand why the French police don't send in Swat teams to control this ! Is there some good reason to let them continue ? I don't think the Gendarmes are so ineffective that they can't do something !

Finally in the Sunday paper here the perps were called Muslim Youths . Then there was a long story in the back pages that this is caused by racism in France . Seems the assimilation of citizens of France is coming back to bite them . Assimilation without opportunity is seldom effective .

I believe he means you cannot allow immigrants into your country without some sort of plan for a way of life or at least a job to give them a lift up to do it themselves? With much of france with a 23/25% unemployment rate there is not much going on but riots. Even though there welfare state is robust it doen't do much for self esteem?

Exactly ! The promise of a welfare state does nothing to assist the immigrants toward a better life than they had in thier original home country , even if it was a former French colony or protectorate .
