A NEW York jury today ruled that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey was negligent and can be sued for damages from the 1993 truck bombing at the World Trade Centre, setting the stage for a potential raft of lawsuits.

Islamist militants exploded the truck bomb in an underground parking garage of the twin towers on February 26, 1993, killing six people and wounding more than 1000.

The jury ruling in the state-court case means relatives of the six people who were killed and the hundreds of other victims and businesses affected by the blast may proceed with damage suites against the Port Authority for damages.

@Brent cv,
Ridiculous. The time has passed, it's long gone.

The statute of limitations for a MURDER is shorter, much shorter, than this.

@Brent cv,
well i did some research, which didnt get my very far, but in general most states dont have a statue of limitations on murder. And i would also assume, because of this, states that do it would be well over a 15 years. so these murders are still valid.

@Brent cv,
Well, I'm pulling my info off of a cold case files or one of those murder investigation shows.

In the show a man shot a woman, who went into a coma, and they couldn't prosecute him for murder. The woman died one year and one day later, and that one day was the one day past the statute of limitations on murder.

@Brent cv,
Reply: There is no statute of limitations on murder. But murder is not a federal crime except in certain circumstances, for example if committed on federal property.
