my mother passed away a couple of day ago, she owned a real estste co. for the past 22 yrs. and she was very big on insurance, and i'm sure she had a large life insurance polcy because she had for children, should i contact her insurance co. right away,

You can inform the insurance company of her demise, yes, but need not do it in 5 seconds or anything.
