@msolga,
Do you have early voting in Aus? In the U.S. an increasing number of jurisdictions allow for people to mail in ballots weeks ahead of the official voting date. It supposedly gets voter participation rates up but it could also mean that events in the last week or so have little impact on the outcome.

@realjohnboy,
Not that I'm aware of, RJB. I don't think so. (hinge?)
In some seats in the past, where there's been a very high number of postal votes, the result has been held up for days.

I hope dadpad remembers to vote at Oz House (in London) tomorrow! Smile

@realjohnboy,
You can vote ahead of time with almost any half-assed excuse for why you can't vote on the day, but you have to turn up to an electoral office.

Mrs Hinge is doing it today because she has to be on call to replace the black plastic hiding the 'Building The Education Revolution' signs around the schools should it fall off or be removed. Otherwise it breaks the 'political advertising at voting station' rules. Who would have thought.

Ah. I didn't know that (never having done it myself).

Thanks, hinge.

Things are starting to get silly.
But maybe more interesting that the real campaign?! Wink

I hope those 300,000 who voted in this myspace poll are all on the electoral roll & will be voting tomorrow. (not for NC, of course!)

("rocker" Nick Cave? Who at the ABC wrote this? Smile ):

Nick Cave voted muso PM

Rocker Nick Cave has been voted the musician Australians would most like to see installed as prime minister.

The singer behind the bands Grinderman and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds fought off competition from Powderfinger's Bernard Fanning and John Butler in the MySpace poll.

On hearing the news, Cave joked: "My first political act will be to introduce legislation forcing all Australians to lower their expectations."

Other musicians apparently worthy of running the country include Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Dame Edna Everage and Kylie Minogue.

More than 300,000 votes were cast in the fantasy poll ahead of the federal election on Saturday.

Definitely
more interesting than this: (with the headline: "Love Me Love Me Not").

<shudder>

Best to stay away from the media today!

Yeah, who is this "expert", anyway? Confused

Good for you! (I can see that you were very, very pissed off! Wink )

I'm surprised they printed your comment. Well done!

Question: (looking at the "who will you vote for" sidebar) is there really a Fishing Party?

@msolga,
Good grief. The AGE has reported that Nick Cave "story", too!

Talk about a no (political) news day!

I notice that both The AGE & The Australian have both posted articles about Julia declaring that she'll be "devastated" if Labor loses ..

(I'm sure she will. So will the rest of us .... but , you know! Neutral )

Yes, I see what you mean, I guess you wouldn't come across an electoral district called "Bennelong" in any other country on earth. Smile

Thanks for your interest, Beth.
I really hope this doesn't end in tears tomorrow night!

@msolga,
Yep, but only in the Senate (in QLD anyway) Their ads suck. Evil greens will stop your kids fishing (as opposed to unregulated fishing destroying the environment so there's nothing left to fish.

@ehBeth,
It could have been so much better Beth, at one stage we were going to have and Abbott and Costello. Now the best we can hope for is an Abbott and a Bishop.
