Really horrible to watch.
Not only did Ellis have to content with Pyne, Ackerman & Tanner talking over her when it was her turn to speak, but Tony Jones appeared to condone their rudeness, too. Appearing to join in the odd occasion!
The irony was that these blokey blokes were discussing sexism!
Their behaviour said so much more than their words.
Good on Kate Ellis for persisting in such a hostile situation. Even though I believe that Labor is barking up the wrong tree entirely with its education "reforms", I think she had every right to speak without having to contend with such deliberate rudeness.
I think Q&A & Tony Jones owe her an apology.
As for Lindsay Tanner ... thoroughly disappointed in him. To watch him & Pyne natter on loudly, like good mates at a barbecue, about Abbott's favourite tv show (!) while Ellis was trying to speak was just awful. I used to admire him as one of the more thoughtful Labor parliamentarians. Not anymore.
