I recommend the adoption of fonetic spelling, like the Spanish.

I urge you to utilize the "ignore" feature. It allows everyone to personalize their experience here. I've had waterboy on ignore for so long that I've practically forgotten about his existence.

@OmSigDAVID,
Yes, certainly.

I was a mix of smart and dumb, and still am.
I take others as similar, though, now that some years have passed.

Indeed it has.

Thank you.

I think our little drama is over now. We should shake hands on it, don't you think? ; )

A pleasure to meet you, KaseiJin. I think know you a bit better now.

I think we might be, Deb.

However, I now think there might be a few more phases than I'd first anticipated! Wink

@ossobuco,
I'm glad the philosophers are here, too, osso.
I hope anything that I've posted here hasn't suggested otherwise.
This is certainly a most interesting getting-to-know-you process!

This is excatly a good example of philosophy. It show some kind of intelligence, not just running off babbeling nonsens as too many did in the old forum, asking stupid self explanatory questions, not being idiots who cumpulsivly praised an imagined diety.

I see you have dragged along your your ability to criticize and deride others, but rarely offer anything better yourself from the old forum. I have also noticed that you also continue to do it with the worst spelling on the forum. As I have said in the past, it is really hard to take a critique seriously when it appears like it was written with spelling and usage errors that would cause it to receive a D on a 7th grade project.

so, we finally see the true face of the philly's

the gloves are slowly coming off.

Simply the true face of people....and I don't think they were ever trying to hide anything...why would they? We'd have clung together for dear life if suddenly moved to a huge forum, too.

@chai2,
philosophy is a way to try and understand with more certainty.
once something is understood with certain it becomes a fact.
Once something is a fact, there is no question.
When a fact becomes a fact, it is no longer part of philosophy.

luckily for us, we'll never know all.

Eeeeh, I can't really agree with this. For some it may be routine, but for others it may be new terretory.
I constantly see the very same philosophical questions being repeated in various fora, "what is time", "can you prove/disprove existance", "what is truth", "what is the meaning of life" ..etc, etc ..Imo veeerrryyyyy old and selfexplanatory questions.

Besides, a fact may be disproved later, or be very subjective.

@dlowan,
No . . . he still shows up from time to time. Most of the lunatic right have left, though, because the thought of the Obama administration is very depressing for them.

I f0und Theaetetus' snide remarks hilarious though, more or less in the realm of "oh yeah, well look how bad this place is," as though that mitigates the preponderant idiocy of the philosophy refugees here.

@DrewDad,
I was on a roll with the over-the-top rant so I purposely went a bit overboard. H2O Man was the first member on my ignore list not from the old forum. Honestly, though, I do like this forum, but the philosophy section is quickly becoming an area that is not my favorite. If I wanted to have a serious philosophical debate (remember, I did major in philosophy), it would not be here, but if I wanted to discuss current event or history, I would likely do that here.

It's not that I do not like having general conversations about philosophy with people mildly interested in the subject who have little to no formal knowledge of the subject, it's that I do that all the time in real life with my friends and acquaintances; therefore, I seek a more in depth conversation online with others a bit more studied in philosophy. I hope the preceding sentence was sufficiently convoluted enough for all who bothered to read through it.

@HexHammer,
I didn't know you were Danish. Now that explains a lot. Sorry dude...I am generally much more forgiving towards ESL members. I do know ancient Greek, so in knowing one of the most difficult languages in history, I now have a bit of empathy. Learning new languages and all of their odd nuances is a very tricky process.

Now let me go find someone with a native English tongue who butchers my language more than I do!

@HexHammer,
Philosophy is more then repetitive questions.
The more we find out, the more we have to question.
Also, certain philosophical questions have been answered,
and within time, more answers are to come.
Anything that is "self explanatory" to me is called logic.
Those facts that are disproved were more than likely true
at that time.
For evolution is certain, and we have changed within time.

oh, and time is a man made measurement that allows us
organize our days as they come. Time also gives us an
understanding of how much life we potentially have
left in us. Since time, there was time and for the rest
of our existence, there will be time.

Then why are the very same questions repeated endlessly? It seems you miss something to your equation.
