How would the skepticism of atheists be defeated? It seems you're looking into the wrong mirror.

@cicerone imposter,
Because they hypothetically know they have a soul, its all hypothetical.

@MWal,
It's not 'hypothetical;' soul is not necessarily religious based.

Quote:
soul
sōl/
noun
1.
the spiritual or immaterial part of a human being or animal, regarded as immortal.
emotional or intellectual energy or intensity, especially as revealed in a work of art or an artistic performance.
"their interpretation lacked soul"
synonyms: inspiration, feeling, emotion, passion, animation, intensity, fervor, ardor, enthusiasm, warmth, energy, vitality, spirit
"their music lacked soul"
2.
the essence or embodiment of a specified quality.
"he was the soul of discretion"
synonyms: embodiment, personification, incarnation, epitome, quintessence, essence; More

@cicerone imposter,
Yes it is hypothetical, it was my statement. Other than that what's your point on the soul and religion? That doesn't quite seem to make sense with my first and second post.

@MWal,
Yes, it's hypothetical because you started with the word 'if.' However, the content of your hypothetical makes a hypothetical claim.

You wrote,

If the atheist had a soul and they knew their skepticism would be defeated and they would certainly be believers.

It implies a religious context which is not hypothetical.

@cicerone imposter,
I see that a soul is not necisarly a religious thing, and see that belief is not necisarly religious.

@MWal,
But you also included a conclusion,
Quote:
"....they would be believers."

In other words, you really don't know what you're saying, because it's all hypothetical. Mr. Green

I fully understand this question but, does the "soul" have to be magical, or can it be made of elementary particles?

@MWal,
You're incoherent, as usual. Why do you have stuch a cob up your @ss about atheists? Do they come around to knock on your door early on Saturday morning so they can talk to you about why they don't believe there is a god? Do they try to stop you nu the street to give you literature about it? Just what is it that gets you so worked up about atheists that you feel a compulsion to go online and display your hatred and your bad English?

@cicerone imposter,
Interesting. The Hebrew word translated 'soul' is 'ne'phesh', or 'breather'. Animals and humans are described as 'souls', not as having souls. Made sense to Ezekiel who proclaimed that the soul is mortal. - Ezekiel 18:4

To conclude:

Can an atheist have a soul?

Yes! he can say he has a soul... but... who will believe him?

What sort of idiot would believe that an athists would want to have or claim to have a "soul?" It is not even demonstrated that there is such a thing as a soul.

Obviously, not the way religionists see the soul.

But in the etymological sense of the word Anima
