Man, they're already starting to have political debates! Which this time last year seemed so far out of reach.

Hooray for free speech

You have pictures of Iraqis in a room discussing things. Whoopee. What is this supposed to demonstrate? Rolling Eyes
Most of the Iraqis I know are exceptionally fond of discussion and debate. Do you really think there were no public discussions under the Hussein regime?

Hassan was someone he mentioned in another thread who is supposed to be an Iraqi who loves America and wants us to turn Iraq into its clone. He is supposed to be in "constant contact" with this person (channelling him, perhaps?) where this Hassan character tells him that all of the stories about poverty, power outages, ill will toward Americans, and even the attacks are falsifications of the US media. The DAI (Development Alternatives Inc.), who obviously funded this discussion (on January, 1, 2003, it seems), has to projects in Iraq:
- STRATEGIES FOR ASSISTING THE MARSH DWELLERS AND RESTORING THE MARSHES IN SOUTHERN IRAQ (September 2003-September 2004),
- Agriculture Reconstruction and Development Program (October 2003-October 2004).

And there has been no open discussion with free speech before?

I wonder if he considered that the dates on the photos indicate they were taken during the Hussein regime? Wink

I just noticed the name of the Agency that you said, which is DAI. they are the ones who have funded the Baghdad Democracy Promotion project that the IPO started.

for further details about BDP, go to:
http://iprospect.org.uk/general.html

basically, we got funding for:
1-debating society
2-newsletter society.

So, are you going to address the fact that the pictures your "friend" sent you are from when Hussein was still in power?

The 'agency' is named on the pics. And when they are funding "you", you certainly will know that.

You certainly will that, because it was the historic first ever "free speech" debate.
