Lips service is given but when it comes to the "real" support, the troops get pissed upon.

"Speaking to the National Guard and Reserves, the president thanked them and their families for being ''willing to sacrifice for our country.'' But less than two weeks later, the administration opposed giving National Guard and Reserve members access to the Pentagon's health insurance system. This despite a recent General Accounting Office report that estimated one in every five Guard members has no health insurance." Jesse Jackson

Heard Rummy on t.v. today, and he was giving that regular spiel about how good our military is doing in Iraq. God, how do these guys sleep at night?

Sociopaths
No conscience is helpful. Maybe the slogan "Blood for oil" wasn't so far off?

History repeats itself.

General Arthur McArthur at one point have to stop a protests/rebellion of veterans.

General Douglas McArthur much later have to renege on his promise of backwages to guerrilla fighters from Asia.

on the positive side.
It has been done before and its being done again although at each generation the intensity is getting less.

In the first part the wages of the American Veterans were not paid.

In the Second instance the wages of the American Veterans are paid it id their Asian recruits that were not paid.

Now the armed forces are all paid but some benefits deserved by others are not given.

A Distant Memory
In a few years most of us will have a faded memory with little emotion attached regarding Iraq but a few thousand people will never forget becasue of physical &/or mental wounds or deceased loved ones. It's sad.

It also makes me angry because I strongly feel that the pre-emptive invasion was not necessary and was motivated by greed and in some cases a sincere yet misquided concept of spreading Democracy.
