ITP

I've been to Florence a couple of times and agree with your assessment.

This time we're staying in the centre of town, so we can enjoy the night life as well, for a couple of days - and then on to Venice - one of my favourite places, for a week.

@izzythepush,
Two blocks from my favorite piazza; well, one of them, and three favorite hotels.
Sigh. Am happy for you folks and your trip, Margo. I am betting the train will be fun. Please report (if I'm not being too nosy).

Tuesday, 24th April, 7:00 pm, Melbourne ...

Our first really cold blast (this year) from the Antarctic today.
Winter is definitely on it's way.
You'd think I would have accepted the inevitability of the arrival of winter by now.
But no, I hold out against it, every single year ....

So today we were all rugged up as we went about our work in the Book Room.
Especially us book sorters out the back, which is a bit colder than the rest of the building.
But, as usual the company was fun & time passed very quickly.

Oh & a lovely surprise!
Last week I complimented one of the workers in another section on her excellent Tiramisu at the Christmas break-up gathering. (I meant it. Best Tiramisu I've ever had!)
This morning she left a really big bowl of it, which she'd made last night, with a note to me & Phil & David, saying it was for us to share with all the other book folk.

One thing I'll say about this organization ...
Nicest group of people (volunteers & paid staff) I've ever had the pleasure to work with.

@Setanta,
If you want to get a real earful/eyeful about Anzac day, take a look at what Moondoggy's been discussing over at FB. It's good reading.

@Setanta,
I didn't realize how very hated the whole concept is by some communities.

@OmSigDAVID,
War veterans. Particularly veterans of WW II.

There is apparently a strong feeling among the older ones that their war experience has been/is being used by right-wing politicians to benefit themselves and to war-monger.

They feel (as it is presented by posters on Moondoggy's various pages) that Anzac Day has lost the anti-war meaning it once had, and which they supported.

@ehBeth,
In other words, thay believe that
at some time in the past, Anzac Day represented sentiment
favoring acquiescence to the wishes of the Japs, for Austrailia ?

Is that accurate ?

10:10 pm, Friday, 27th April ....

Do you think that adjusting to colder weather & shorter, darker days makes people want to sleep more? .... like those animals which hibernate in winter?
For whatever reason, I'm needing a lot more sleep, all of a sudden.
Thirteen hours worth last night!
Still tired this morning. Confused

My cat has just been badgering me for extra food.
She was so convincing I gave her a chicken wing portion.
She sniffed it & promptly frolicked away. (No, it wasn't off.)
So what was that all about?

Time for yet more sleep soon.
Night all.
