@msolga,
Quote: Do you think that adjusting to colder weather & shorter, darker days makes people want to sleep more? .... like those animals which hibernate in winter?
For whatever reason, I'm needing a lot more sleep, all of a sudden.
Thirteen hours worth last night!
Still tired this morning.
My cat has just been badgering me for extra food.
She was so convincing I gave her a chicken wing portion.
She sniffed it & promptly frolicked away. (No, it wasn't off.)
So what was that all about?
Time for yet more sleep soon.
Night all.
While I find sleep is more inviting during the winter I don't know if I've ever had a 13 hour run. Even with heavy sedatives I tend to awaken at around 6 or 7 hours. Occasionally I ret...
...oh, wait you didn't ask for a life story.
Yes, winter does create a desire/basic need for more rest. Incidentally, sometimes when getting excessive amounts of sleep, I find I am more tired than with lesser amounts.
In the summer months I get by easily on a lot less sleep, I waken before the sunrise and many times stand at the window watching the day come alive. To see the early birds flying about is an exciting and enjoyable experience which I never tire of.
Your cat reminds me of my late beloved Arthur (named after a high school math teacher, not the king). He would come dashing in no matter what I was preparing and had to have a smell of it. Danger items were dairy products and garlic. He adored garlic. Often he would look at an item, sniff then walk away. Other times he'd attack it, eating as if it were either the best food on the planet or else his last meal.
He also liked liverwurst.
I miss Arthur, it will be 10 years he's gone next month.

Aside from that it is fast approaching 9:00 in the a.m. and the sky just went cloudy. Finished a breakfast salad and a plain taco shell (after yesterday's dreadful eating I need to balance it today) no dressing on the salad.
