Hi Olga. Just following along with your comments, on the latest thread that's become controversial, and nodding my head in agreement.

@Reyn,
Aw, thanks, Reyn. Smile
It doesn't surprise me at all that you'd hold similar views.
Not quite sure, but we may be in the minority, though! Oh well .....
Anyway, think I might just stay away from there .... felt rather geriatric after yesterday! Wink

It's really good to see you around a bit more.
What's your news?
Are you still looking for work? (I've settled for a combination of casual teaching & voluntary work. Not too wealthy, but feeling much happier.)
How's you're mother going now? Things were really tough going there for a while, as I recall.
And how is that incredibly indulged cat (Sophie?) going? Smile

@msolga,
... addition to my last post:
Reyn, it just occurred to me that it might have been your mother-in-law (rather than your mother) who was unwell. I'm sorry if I got that wrong.

@msolga,
Nope, you were right the first time. It's my mother. As of April 2nd, she's now living in a care home and doing okay.

Now that my mom has been placed, both Vivienne and I are a bit more relaxed, although there always seems an obligation to visit (or perhaps an expectation?). I make a point of giving myself a break on weekends.

Yes, I have started looking for work again recently, but I think that it's not all that likely that I'll find anything, at least in the short run. I am 61, too, very soon, and employers tend to ignore us "oldies" in favour of the younger folks for most jobs.

Sophie (good memory!) is coming up to 4 next month and she's the sweety as always. Doing well, but she still has the occasional habit of trying to lick water in sinks. Can't break her of that. You would think we never had a bowl of water down, eh?

Glad to read that you have found your niche employment-wise. I, too, am not rich, but seem to be doing okay. I really would like to find something very part time to bring a little extra money in, but may have to settle on staying retired.

I do online surveys for small amounts of cash and chances at draws, but no jackpot yet.

I am actually around every day, but as you've noticed, don't post very often, and when I do, it's nothing of great consequence. I'll try to make more of an effort. Very Happy

@Reyn,
Reyn, thanks for responding to all my questions.
Now I know everything! Smile
I'm sorry to have confused your mother with your mother-in-law. It's been a long time since I've read your posts. (hint! ) But I'm very relieved the pressure is now off you & Vivienne & that your mother's settled into her new home pretty well.

Hey, a photograph of Sophie would be nice to see (another hint Wink ). I'd imagine she leads leads the life of a thoroughly doted-on feline under Vivienne's special form of TLC.

Looks like neither of us are going to be wealthy in this life-time, hey?
Ah well, worse things can happen.
Yes?

Aha, I thought I sensed you lurking! Wink
Yes, do post more often, Reyn. You're a good soul to have around & I always enjoy your posts .... especially your exchanges with edgar. Smile

9: 50 am, Tuesday 17th April, Melbourne ....

Damn, I slept in!
Just rolled over & turned the alarm off, even slept through (sorta) the garbage collection early this morning ... which is noisy enough to wake the dead!
Oh well ... I'll arrive at the Book Room (my volunteer "job") an hour late & I'll leave an hour later this afternoon ....
Today I'll be sorting hundreds & hundreds & hundreds of books into "for online sale", or for opportunity (thrift) shops & or for recycling (a nice change from the computer/online posting stuff) .... along with Phil & David, usual partners in crime on Tuesdays.

Gotta run now, or I'll be super-late!

It's not just my wife's TLC, but dad's, too! She gets away with a lot more than Kira and Kory used to, and has lots of priviledges! Shocked Laughing

I deleted my account where I posted the occasional photos, because I've used it so infrequently in the past couple of years, otherwise I would.

The book job sounds fun. I've often thought of doing some volunteer stuff at a local thrift organisation here, but always feel that I should be working on finding a paid job - at least part time anyways.
