@ragnel,
I understand, I understand, including the ironies involved; understand re the book too. You may be getting a pm or two from me, not to be invasive, and probably not right away. Indeed, I may forget (another irony).

You are a treasure to me and others. I suppose treasure sounds mushy but not meant that way, just true. I don't know what you can do about any of this but make sure re the meds and the foods but I'm guessing you have heard at length about all that.

Thank you for answering.

It is just a bit after 9:00, EDT.

I did not set my clock ahead when I went to bed last night. The orange cats always get into my bed before I do while my black cat, now 17 or older, waits until I climb into bed. During the winter, she assesses getting under the covers with me, a project that takes several minutes and a false start or two.

I awoke to NPR as I always do, but, had more trouble getting up than usual. When Morning Edition signed off, I remembered not changing my clock. I have been tired all day. It is a good thing this is spring break.

Chocolate biscuits make a noise - well - I suppose they do as you eat them!

@margo,
Relaxing on a Public Holiday, Adelaide Cup Day, blue skies, 27 degrees, snags & steak on the barbie and a cold stubbie in my hand. Could life be better? Smile

I seem to be adjusting to Daylight savings time although I slept in until 10:09 this morning. Ouch! But, three cheers for term break. It is now 7:13 PM, EDT. The sun had turned the trees that fringe the yard gold after a rather yucky day.

I am cleaning the house which suffers from my six-day work week. I spent most of the day re-reading Brave NEw World because my students will be lost without a framework for discussion. I slipped out from both activities to work a little on a novel I hope I will finish. It began with a 3-minute story I submitted to an NPR contest.

In the process of making beef stew. Today's will have dumplings. Yum. Back to BNW which I hope to finish tonight. Probably make some sort of treat . . . cheese cake? apple pie?

I'm thinking this might be an opportune moment to resuscitate this sleeping thread ...... this being such a frantic time of year for so many of us, with not a lot of time left over for posting to A2K.

Besides, I'd love to know your details of what you're getting up to, on the run, during the manic festering season.
Or perhaps you've decided to take things quietly this year? How sensible! Half your luck if you can! Smile

OK, the first festering season post from me .... hopefully I won't be the only one!:

Saturday, 10:30 am, Melbourne, Oz:
Sitting here in my pajamas contemplating what must be done today ...
I must wash the dishes in the sink (in a minute), ... before I go shopping (girding my loins!) for the ingredients for my contribution for the annual Christmas get-together of a group of us who all worked at the same school in the early 1990s .... it's the only time some of us see each other each year.
But first, I must water my tomatoes & other plants ... it's going to be a hot one today. The weather bureau predicts a top of 30 C degrees.
Gotta get moving soon.

And you?

@msolga,
10.17 am Adelaide.

Lying on sofa in study, waiting for coffee to brew....bath is run. Will have coffee and bath and then commence my morning duties, which mainly involve shopping for gifts for a few kids I'm seeing and some funny ones for someone who is leaving work.

Cats are scampering around me....a moment ago, they were scuffling in the passage when I walked past and Sebastian bit my leg as I was walking past. Just as though that wasvanormal thing to do.

I've been trying to figure out why the iRobot roomba vacuum cleaner runs so short a time in our master bedroom. I think we're going to need a battery replacement, so I've been researching the web for the best price; they're pretty expensive at about $40 that includes shipping.

No one else posting? Sad

2:38 pm, Saturday 17th December....

Just back from the shops, all hot & sticky. (Thunderstorm later on, I think.)
And guess what? I forgot the spinach. Damn, damn, damn!
Just cooling down with a glass of chilled lemon, lime & bitters before I head off back down there ....

No less than 3 Santas in Sydney Road. And some young things I think were elves, or Santa's helpers?
Whatta day to be wearing a Santa suit! Poor things.
