It's 6:54PM in Silicon Valley right now. It was a cool sunny day, and expect the same tomorrow.

@cicerone imposter,
6:25 PM, SUNDAY Oct 24 ,in SUnny Pennsylvania USA. Just returned from a brisk cnoe paddle along the Octoraro Creek (The BIg Elk creek was too far to travel today). We saw all kinds of wildlife and cattle along the creek. The farmers are all keeping their cosw from walking in the creek and crapping it up. Thats real good. I caught me 2 trouts and I cast my lure into an overhnging branch and lost it. It was agood ol sppon bait with some fake mush from a bottle. (Stupid pen raised trout will eat cardboard if its colorful enough)

Just arrived home, coming from the airport, from Athens.

The weather was gorgeous there, a bit less here.

Yesterday, I had dinner with Greek people.

We were talking about philosophy, making analogies, some even made apologies and some eulogies and others recited metaphors using prosopopeia.

Well, just to tell that we were talking in Greek..

@Francis,
Listening to a boring auditor's report in a Board meeting. Beautiful day outside (on the East Coast) - but clouds gathering. Looks like rain.

@Francis,
Haven't heard much news yet today. Did Murkowski win in Alaska? (I hope not).

In general the results in both House & Senate were slightly better than I expected. My big disappointment was that Barbara Boxer - a truly obnoxious little bitch - won reelection.

Even the San Francisco newspapers refused to endorse her.

@Francis,
Well, Francis, I was wondering what happened to you, because of your absence from a2k. Was in Greece last July, and enjoyed my journey up to Kalambaka/Meteora. Beautiful country. Studied the Greek alphabet in college to join the business frat, but that was many lifetimes ago.

@cicerone imposter,
Yes, Greece is quite nice, a bit troubled right now, though..

They blocked the center of Athens yesterday after the parcel bombs arrived and some exploded.

We had to cancel our dinner in the center but were in a nice place anyway...

What about your new governor, Jerry Brown? Is he okay for the position?

No! He's a 72 year old career politician who got California more than once
into trouble. I cannot believe that CA would vote for such an old geezer who
has nothing to show for..... Evil or Very Mad

Oh, it's 1:40 pm in very sunny and very hot California
86 F and windy - typical for desert winds that bring the heat....

@CalamityJane,
No way a politician can fulfill all your wishes..

Especially when you, the Californians I know, have such different political views...

@Francis,
Was your dinner venue close to the Parthenon? I love that area.

As for Jerry Brown, he was the less of two evils; one we know, and the other an unknown commodity. Californians just didn't want to gamble with the unknown. Whitman lied in her campaign ads even after everybody learned they were lies, and she kept running them.

@Francis,
Well, aside from the political affiliation of Brown - he is simply too old, and
especially for a state like California who prides itself in being innovative and
the leader in everything. What a joke!! I am more than disappointed here....

Oh, like Brown told us the truth? Or any other candidate for that matter....
Brown is THE evil, I would have taken my chances with Meg Whitman, she
cannot be worse than what we've had so far.

@cicerone imposter,
Yes, it was planned in the Plaka "village", quite at the foot of the Acropolis mount.

@CalamityJane,
I'll snag this post as one of the few times I disagree with CJane.
I guess we'll see, one way or the other.

On the sant'anas, they used to bring styrofoam cups to the shoreline back in Venice, and I suppose other california shores. Probably they do that even now that I'm not watching.

(it's 6:48 pm here in NM, 74 degrees in the house, heater not on yet, though connected.. I still am learning that the coldest time in the house is around six or seven in the morning, just as the warmest is late afternoon - a temp warp for me, long time californian. It's taken me years to process this difference.)

11:35 AM, EST

Still in my robe and jammies, sitting with my 17-year-old cat on my lap and my son's 8-year-old female cat on my desk. Need to launch my day doing other things besides cleaning the kitchen.

@CalamityJane,
Anyone who spends the sort of money Whitman spent is suspect in my book. Why Brown ran is beyond comprehension.
