3:38 pm, Wednesday 18th August, Melbourne ...

I have been playing cat & mouse with the rain for hours now ...
Just as I am about to leave the house, it pours.
So a bit more A2King, wash the dishes, have some lunch, etc ... then, just as I'm about to head off again, yet another downpour.
I give up. I'm going in a minute. Rain or no rain!
(it's freezing cold, too. And grey, & wretched ... A good day for lying low, keeping out of trouble & staying warm. )

@msolga,
...oh & also a good day for making soup! Idea

I think I'll buy some soup ingredients while I'm out shopping. (Maybe barley & something.. ?) ... & fill the house with delicious & comforting aromas for the rest of the day!

@msolga,
Hi msolga, amazingly I'm sitting out in the sun beyond the Black Stump, rained this morning, but presently quite nice. Will be cool tonight though so my trusty fire will keep me warm.. Your soup sounds delicious, enjoy it.

@Dutchy,
6:58 pm, August 18th, the windy city.

Hey there, Dutchy! Smile
Well if that's the weather you had today, with a little bit of luck we'll have it tomorrow!
It has been a truly yuck day. Honestly, my face was frozen, walking back from the shops a while ago. (Made me think: how terribly hard it would be to be homeless & existing on Melbourne's streets on such a night. Sad )

I've decided to make one of my quick soups (with clams, tiny pasta, tomatoes, garlic, continental parsley, etc, etc, etc ...
I'll bet you anything Mrs D is cooking up something wonderful as I type!

Off to cook now.

@msolga,
6.42 pm Wednesday.

After a weird burst of warmth, which smelt of the sea, cold again.

Just about to take Miranda down to meet the foster folk.

@msolga,
9pm beyond the Black Stump.

Hi msolga. As the wabbit said, the warm sunshine didn't last long. Presently cold again with severe storms and rain forecast overnight. You were right about Mrs.B cooking up something nice. I had another eye injection around 5,3opm and after she dished me up a lovely meal of cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes and gravy, with it came a nicely grilled T-bone steak, done perfectly as I like them, medium-rare. Followed by Italian ice cream, fresh strawberries and cream. Tonight I'm a contented man despite my sore eye. Smile

You poor thing, Dutchy!
I hope that's the last one you need to have. Sounds truly awful! Shocked
I'm glad Mrs D spoiled you a bit tonight.

And you have a safe trip, farmer.

Thank you for your interest msolgha and Fazrmerman. Glad to say my eye is on the improve, I had a severe bleeding at the back of my left eye but special photos today showed a clear eye with the bleeding having totally disappeared. Been treated for the past 3 months and need another injection in 5 weeks time, hope it is the last one as it isn't a pleasurable experience!

Have a great trip Farmerman.

I don 't recommend the rotating restaurant up on top.
The vu is not too good, nor is the food, especially.

Thanks for your interest dlowan. Apparently an injection is the last remedy to get things right as my sight in the left eye was blurry, couldn't read a thing. You actually get 2 needles, one is for a local anesthetic and the next one is straight into your eye ball. I hate needles at any time but the idea of getting one into your eye is traumatic. You feel it for about 4 days afterwards and soothe it every 3 hours with eye drops. Doesn't feel to bad at the moment just like you have sand scraping across your eye.

Good morning, Dutchy.
<shudder> That sounds a shocking thing to have to go through! (but I don't need to tell you that, do I?)
So there's been a noticeable improvement in the vision in that eye? (Thank the goddess that the bleeding has ceased!)

The sun came out for a little while & I became really excited! Now it's gone again & I'm feeling a wee bit cheated. Neutral
Perhaps a long walk .. rain, hail or shine?

Itchy with mosquito bites from yesterday's sunset attempt to string up the cucumbers a bit better. When I go out, mosquitos ring a dinner bell.

@plainoldme,
Do you grow aloe vera growing in your garden, POM?
Cut a bit off & keep dabbing it on the itchy spots. Very soothing ... if you keep doing it! (Works for me!)
