@tsarstepan,
11:24, Monday 5th July, Melbourne, Oz:

Looks like a super hot & sticky 4th of July holiday for you US folk. I hope your air conditioners are in good working order & that you manage to have a pleasant day today anyway.

I loved your posts, RJB & dys. Thank you both.

I returned from the auto electricians a while ago. Left my little car for repairs & faced a "bracing" walk home. My face & fingers are just about defrosted now. Actually it's a quite beautiful morning out there. Crisp, chilly, but clear & sunny. Not bad for mid-winter in Melbourne.

I have now received 2 calls on my mobile from the folk who are repairing the lock on my car door. Of course, what seemed a simple problem has turned out be be more complicated. Isn't that always the way? I am expecting a 3rd call sometime soon. I am getting to know Mark, from the auto electricians very well.

Hacked at the forsythia forest on and off all day in the + 90 Degree heat.

I call it a forest because some of the branches are 12 or more feet tall. Growing in the hedge are young maples, a sort of weed that becomes a tree, at least one lilac and wild roses. Either I am allergic to the forsythia or to one or both of the tall weeds that grows under it. I want the area they are in cleared so that fruit trees can be planted there.

Hot. sweaty and covered with a rash.

@tsarstepan,
Thanks for reminding me about Wait! Wait! I have a knack for never catching it when it is broadcast. Will listen now.

Just finished eating mashed potatoes. What a great thing a mashed potato is.

Okay... to be fair food of the lesser gods but gods nonetheless.

@tsarstepan,
My very German grandmother would never mash potatoes to the consistency in tsar's photo. The lumps, she said, are where all the vitamins are.

9:42 at night here on the 4th of July, temp in Albuquerque 81 degrees F.
Quiet little pop pop pops from the apparently weary holiday revelers outside...
I just finished picking my strikers for the last round of A2k fantasy soccer, 2010. (I'm learning, I'm learning)

Amsterdam 6:15 Bright new morning, 5th of July

Coffee is ready; will start baking my bread. I am out of everything, even the milk is finished ! Black coffee...

Getting ready to work on my little boat, I want to be sailing by the end of the week. The lake is 15 minutes from home so I plan to use it a lot. But work first !

10:51 here in Albuquerque and things are finally starting to quiet down. I guess folks ran outta money to ignite and toss into the air for a two second thrill.

Now the dogs can come out of hiding.

23:00 in the Pacific Northwest. The neighborhood fireworks seem to be letting up some. Boy was it loud this year. The casino down the street must have had a good year selling the stuff.

@msolga,
PepI is fine... Was a nick-name of an early Pharaoh, so how could I not like it ?

The day has started, bread (three kinds of flour) is raising, eggs are boiling, toast still has to be made...

How was your day ? Is your car fixed ?

I can't tell you how impressed I am by your bread-making activities, PepI!
You do this most days?

My day has been good (so far). Thanks for asking.

Nah about the car. I went back a couple of hours ago to collect it (as the garage awaits the necessary parts from the suppliers) & will return it for the repairs on Wednesday morning.

Not to worry. Holiday time means that time is not a problem.

Besides, I was able to drive to a friend's place for a visit after collecting it. Bonus! Smile

@Pepijn Sweep,
All he had to do was ask himself why all those people were working on the Fourth of July.

Sheesh!

@msolga,
I have a serious head-ache now... I really dislike arguments and people who think they are always right. Plus I have to translate my thoughts... Which is good since the dictionary filters out the nasty words popping up in my mind.

I am so disappointed with some of us (A2K and PF alike) ... Can't they offer a Financial Bonus to us ? So we can choose - like they want us to do. I agree: spamming is horrible un-polite, but so is reading Private Messages... I just don't know. Out of frustration I used my full name, trying to impress with real world information.

I apologize; PepI is more suitable. It was also the name of a rabbit I owned. His brother Kokkie (little cook) cannabalized him slowly...

@Pepijn Sweep,
I have already said I did not and do not read your PMs (serious, I don't even read all mine, ask some of the many who send angry replies about how I ignore them).

What happened was that I received a templated-looking invite forwarded to me as spam from someone who did not even know Salima.

I queried the database for a count where text like "%PM string here%" and it returned something like 580 results. So I deleted them.

I did not read anyone's messages unless they were forwarded to me. I asked for more to be forwarded to me and received more. Theaetetus had sent some too, but the count when I queried for them was not large (dozens maybe?) so I left those intact (inviting your friends is one thing, spamming hundreds of people is another).

I have better things to do than snoop on people's messages here but spam, and other threats, scams (today someone else also told me about someone asking for money to two different accounts) etc are supposed to be reported to us (we'll make an easier mechanism to do so, we used to have buttons on PMs to do it but for now it will have to be copy paste) and when they are I simply query the database for the text I already have to confirm it's existence (otherwise you could falsify a report) and will delete in cases of mass spam.
