11:43 p.m.....still hot & muggy outside.....Tulsa, OK
Today I finally managed to get fully dressed including hair and makeup, and left the house for the first time in a week and a half since shoulder surgery. SonofEva and I took Hubby out to dinner. It was both Fathers' Day AND his birthday. Poor guy...he has spent the last two days nonstop reworking the sump pump in our basement which failed on Friday. Some way to spend your birthday, huh? For that, he deserved at least a special dinner. I would've done more, but I was exhausted by the time we got home. I'm taking a pain pill now & going to bed...
@Eva,
Glad to hear of progress on the shoulder, Eva.
Hang in there!
04:45 (am) CEST McTag just left our home, heading for Calais to reach the train there to England there.
@Walter Hinteler,
Very nice to read. Hope y'all had a good visit.. and that McTag might post some photos.
@Eva,
Thinking of you, and, yes, hang in there..
1:20 pm, June 23:
I had a job interview this morning for a warehouse worker position for a recreational dealer / parts / warehouse place.
I thought it went well. It lasted about 15-20 minutes. They had checked my references out yesterday.
I remain cautionly hopeful that this may be the one.
@Reyn,
Fingers crossed for ya, Reyn.
@George,
Keep us informed, Reyn. Good luck.
@Reyn,
Fingers and toots crossed in the UK for you Reyn. x
Thanks, guys! All well wishes are appreciated!
@Tai Chi,
6.30am in Adelaide, South Australia. Just finished watching two football games from South Africa, all night marathon, now time for a snooze.
@Tai Chi,
Fingers crossed for you, Reyn.
8:48 pm, Thursday 24th June, Melbourne.:
Drinking coffee to stay awake. Not long before a very early retreat to bed.
It's the last week of term 2 in Victorian schools.
The last thing I expected was to find myself teaching every single day of this week. But that's what's happened. The students are extremely restless & getting up to weird & crazy things at times ... & staff need to be put out to pasture. It's tough going.
I've done little else this week but work, rest, eat, sleep ... then get up & do it again the next day. But just one day to go. (yay!)
6:52 AM, EDT
This is the last day of class for my summer 1 session of Intermediate Writing. As I was correcting papers last night, I discovered one of my students plagiarized an entire essay.
I am sorely disappointed. This is an intelligent person, a slightly older student, recently immigrated from Lebanon.
The assignment was an argument essay. I feel it is unfair to students to send them out with only one argument under their belts, but, compressing a 16 week semester into 5 weeks means some sacrifices. I am not entirely certain that I like teaching summer school for that reason.
thur 10:08 a.m. 72 F, humility 43% amazingly pleasant, expected high today 89 F wonderful.
13:15 Eastern
90 degrees and humid.
Just back from my lunchtime jog.
Which appears to have been a bad idea.
