It's a nice sunny, but cool evening and I hope we won't have any earthquakes today, after being rattled around twice last night. We just had dinner and I feel a short nap might be exactly what I need.....

@realjohnboy,
The tuna was leftover. Didn't want to waste it, plus did not want to cook so soon after working.

5:34 pm, Thursday 27th May, Melbourne:

Eating an open (hot) salami sandwich.

I was right. Didn't get nearly as much done as I wanted, but did the most important stuff, so why worry?

It's getting dark & decidedly cooler, after a surprisingly pleasant, sunny afternoon. I'm about to start cooking: Lamb Shank, Fennel & Vegetable soup. Quite spicy, too. I'm quite excited that fennel is available in the shops again. Love it! This soup isn't for tonight's dinner, as it's slow-cooked. Sounds pretty good for a Friday after work dinner!

It is 1:59 a.m in Farmington, NM.

Having logged in for no reason except to record the local time and report a bit of spam, it's time to either seek wider fullfillment or go to bed.

@msolga,
Just got home after a long day. Possibly more rain tomorrow!! Please!!!

A2k allowed me in...(didn't this morning.)

I've been eating from a huge pot of the lemon and garlic chicken since Sunday!

Tonight is the last night.

Eking everything out as I panic more and more about holiday debt. I have discovered I am often perfectly satisfied with one meal a day...plus a handful of nuts in the morning...not always, but quite often

This after a simple purchase of an eyeliner ended up costing me $200 due to A Series of Unfortunate Events!

Go where? (If it's OK to ask. And if you haven't gone yet.)

Good morning, farmer.

You're up early.

@msolga,
"Ready to go" is an AMeriacan idomatic phrase. It means that Im all primed and ready to begin the day. Im not going anywehere today. Were beginning a long holiday weekend and I like to get prepared for long holiday weekends by extending them at each end. (personal thing)

Was your day good? We had some grilled chicken and snow peas (separate side dish) . The snow peas were done in a garlic butter liquid and I did the chicken by covering them with a dry rub I whipped up and then slow grilled them over wood smoke.

For dessert we had vanilla yogurt and frfesh strawberries.

I like when we eat most of our stuff from the garden. Makes you feel virtuous wrt messin up our bodies.

Ah, I see. I thought you were bolting out the door as I typed! Smile
A long weekend! Enjoy it. Hope you manage to fit some painting in, farmer.

Yes, my day was pretty good, thanks for asking. Got a few necessary chores done, fitted in a visit, did the shopping & now (finally!) I have my huge slow cooker started. Yet another humongous msolga soup on the way! (I think I'll have to give some away, again. Way too much for me.) My house smells wonderful from frying up the onions, garlic, fennel, chillies, etc, plus all the spices that went into the mix.

Now I've gotta make myself respectable for work tomorrow.

8:36 pm Thursday, Melbourne.

5:39 AM. Not yet motivated. Just had my coffee. No real help from that. I voted for Obama. Life should be a bowl of cherries by now.

Did you break some law? What must you do to regain respectability?

@farmerman,
Ha!:
Shower. Wash hair. Tidy up my sloppy attitude. Get to bed reasonably early. Avoid procrastination. ... that sort of stuff. Smile

What a storm we had last night! I watched the 11:oo news and heard the local weatherman say that there were two storm fronts as he stood in front of the radar representation of the area. I was clearly in a gap between the two fronts but there was lightning which was becoming more intense.

I told my son what I had heard then went back upstairs and looked out the window. Trees were bending in the wind and soft plants were flattened by it. There seemed to be something blown down the street. I shut off the computer then shut off the spike bar.

The weatherman came back on and showed new radar. The two fronts had merged and the storm was about four times the size of the two fronts added together.

With the increased lightning, I could see the street had flooded and what looked like something blown down the street were waves! The lights began to flicker. I had recently purchased a solar power flashlight which was stored on the window sill. My son turned it on and I used it to find the candles in their drawer. By this time, i was aware that a police cruiser was running its bubble gum machine in front of my house, which meant that the dying maple had lost another branch.

We did not lose power but our next door neighbor did. Their power line is still down. It was not taken by the branch from our tree but from one of their branches.

@dlowan,
Oh, that's awful when those bank fees come back and bite you!

Your life sounds as parsimonious as mine. We pennypinched our way through the pre-pay day meals!

6:30 a.m. Thur. Sally dog was just outside sniffing the petunias and came in for her brekkies. 65 degrees and cloudless. Coffee and cookies for The Dys. looks like a ****-load of grapes on the arbor.

I just got back from my cigarette break. I don't smoke, but at this time of
morning I like to take a walk around the building.

By the east entrance, there's a gazebo (I call it "The Cancer Ward") where you
often see folks burning paper tubes filled with tiny leaves. I said Hi as I went
by.

The landscapers were here yesterday and now there are islands of purple,
pink and white annuals scattered about the perimeter of the Widget Factory.

6:42 am, Friday 28th may, Melbourne Oz:

Good morning, all.

Up since 6 am. Still dark & very quiet outside. Everyone but me seems to be still sleeping. (Lucky devils.)

My house is full of the aroma of soup, cooked overnight in the slow cooker. Ms Poppy has had her breakfast & is hassling me for more. (I don't think so!) Me, I'm reading the online news & drinking tea. Same as every morning. Wake up, wake up! Just one more day & it's Saturday. I can do it (Friday) , yes I can!
