9:33 in Boston. It was a hot, humid day (just about 90 degrees F) today and there is no A/C at school except for in the admin offices. So... I just woke up from a 3-hour nap, which is what I do when it's hot. I'll catch up online for a little while and then get ready for bed. What, ya think I won't sleep?

The moon should be rising soon.

Strenuous day at work, which is what I enjoy most. Took a refrigerator down the stairs, brought a new one up. Had problems with the ice make water valve (in the wall). Rather than cut it out and braze a new one, we monkeyed with the handle and stem a while. Which involved going up and down the stairs a bit to turn the building's water supply off and on. Got it to quit leaking. Then replaced facia and rehung gutter. Such activity makes my body behave more as it did when I was much younger.

Used to watch Lost on Tuesdays. Ended up watching a rerun
of Cheers and Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader.

Tuna sandwiches for dinner.

4:45 pm Wednesday 26th May, Melbourne:

Not long home & very weary. So glad to get a breather from work tomorrow.

The nicest class at work today was year 12 music (mainly boys & one girl). A number of class mates away today, so they couldn't continue with their joint musical creations. I persuaded them to improvise together & they were FANTASTIC! Some real talent in that group. I was mightily impressed. The future of Oz music in front of my face. I think I was the most appreciative audience they'd ever had! Very Happy

The cold, rainy days of the last few days cleared to a brilliant sunny afternoon. A bit of a surprise! Made everyone restless. When I got out of my car, a while back, my ears were accosted by the sound cicadas. In Melbourne. I late May? Incredible! Surprised Confused

(Thank you, dear Iz! Our lone UK poster. (hugs) Smile )

Finishing tooling through my emails. Going to wish my brother a happy b-day and then contact the state about my income tax return before checking papers and doing dishes. Pick up my son from his job and go to my other job.

Severe thunderstorm watch for
Kingston - Odessa - Frontenac Islands issued

Potential for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.

Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. If threatening weather approaches take immediate safety precautions.

The hot and humid airmass over Eastern Ontario will generate thunderstorm activity this afternoon and evening. Strong thunderstorms have already developed north of the Ottawa River and these storms are moving slowly southeastward. Thunderstorms will continue into the evening hours. Some of these storms have the potential to become severe with large hail up to 3 cm in diameter and damaging wind gusts over 90 km/h. Torrential downpours of 50 mm of rain in one hour or less are also possible with these slow moving storms.

that does not sound pleasant at all !

Watered my single tomato plant. Ate a tuna sandwich. Gave Punky her dinner. Congratulated mrs edgarblythe on finding a job. Hmm. All that and it's only 3:16 PM. Got a whole day ahead of me.

9:40 am, Thursday 27th May, Melbourne Oz:

Sitting here in pajamas with a cup of tea (Twinings Russian Caravan) reading about your latest doings ... waiting for signs of revitalization. This might take a while.
A lot to do today & I'm considering what to do & when. Which is not easy when one feels rather like a weary blob. Eyebrow trim. Ring for an appointment. (must be done today! Ouch!Ouch!), shopping for essentials (meaning cat food, especially), visit friend who's seriously down in the dumps, walk (can actually I fit a walk in?), wash another batch of clothes, contact handyman for work that needs doing (make time fit in a visit from handyman, if necessary) ..... & so on ... I have a feeling I won't get everything that needs doing, done.

the thunder is beginning to rumble - the rain should bring the temperature down a bit - 30 C is a bit hard to take in may

Of course you realize that every single one of those tasks are trivial, unimportant, and can be postponed, msolga...except for one.

Buying cat food.

That cannot wait.

Go now.

10.00am 27 May 2010 in (currently) sunny Sydney.

Almost 2 weeks of rain - nice to see a bit of sun - but more rain expected.

At my cage, just gazing out the window - interesting cloud patterns and lots of big black ones hanging around.

That seems a bit much at this early hour of the day, hamburger! Especially since I had salmon for dinner last night. Sticking with tea for a bit yet ...
