I've seen others post pics, but I don't see the option when creating or replying to threads.

first you have to find an image on the internet, if it's your own picture you need to host it on a photo sharing site (like www.photobucket.com/)

then you need to copy the address for the picture

http://blog.dreamhost.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/multitool.jpg

that alone won't do it, you need to wrap the url in an img code, like this

Code:[img]http://blog.dreamhost.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/multitool.jpg[/img]

if you do that, you get this

To wrap the address with the img code, highlight the address and click the URL button, which will be above your reply box.

If you don't have a bunch of buttons above the box, go to your preferences page and enable http codes, or something like that.

Nah, highlight the address and click on the Img button....

or, click on the img button, and copy and paste the URL address in the space between them.

Above the response window, it's enable BBCode Editor

I tried it once with the URL option. Come to think of it, it didn't work. Scratch one more hampster.

The url button is for creating what is essentially this. That is, it's a clickable title to a website, rather than the actual url. It's particularly useful if the url is really long and ugly.
