Does Obama not trust himself off the teleprompter, or is someone else convincing him of this?

Style over substance with this clown. Appears the usually friendly press is beginning to wake up...

There was some rich irony at the White House today -- President Obama signed the Press Freedom Act, and then promptly refused to take any questions.

@A Lone Voice,
It would be better for you guys if you had something other than bitter nitpicking to go after Obama with.

Re: the press, they don't like the Obama group much, because the Obama WH denies them the 'pay-for-play' access that a lot of other WH have freely given. These reporters make their livings not by reporting on the day-to-day, but by given inside access so they can write books later on. Obama's unwillingness to engage in this process has directly threatened the group who was relying upon this very thing to secure their future livelihood. Not surprising that there is some anger.

@Cycloptichorn,
That may be true, but didnt he promise an "open, transparent" administration?
How does that jibe with not answering questions and by denying them access?

@Cycloptichorn,
Good point! Anyway, it is if "inside access" includes answering questions.

@Cycloptichorn,
Isn't it Chip of cbsnews that's doing the nitpicking?

Recall that last Friday the president refused to take any questions after delivering his angry statement on the oil spill in the Rose Garden. And he has not held a prime-time White House news conference in many months, despite much pleading from pundits and members of the media.

Something like:

His spending habits.
His lack of respect for the constitution.
His failure to listen to the people.
His disrespect for the rule of law.
Etc...

Yup - and he's one who was probably banking on getting that inside access just like the rest of the WH reporter pool.

@Cycloptichorn,
He's probably a decent enough guy (he made the president smile Smile), but might need to work on his sentence structure before writing that book.
