A new dance movie has an interesting romantic couple: Derek Hough from Dancing with the Stars and BoA -- an Asian pop singer known for her dance skills.

My daughter Katrina told me that there is a new trailer for the latest Coen brothers movie. She assisted in the casting for this film!

Thanks Wandel! That looks INCREDIBLE! Surprised Very Happy

This October: Spike Lee's remake of the Korean thriller Oldboy comes out. The Korean original has one of the most twisted end of the movie twists in cinema history. I wonder where Spike Lee is going to take the film? Surprised

@tsarstepan,
What do you think of remakes of foreign films? Shouldn't people just watch the original? Subtitles never bothered me.

There are actually remakes in the works for the other two parts of the Korean director's revenge trilogy. Charlize Theron bought the rights to remake "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance."

@wandeljw,
I know. I too wish that people weren't so culturally lazy and tried to watch the original foreign films. Though on a rare occasion, a remake can top the original: the remake of the Japanese horror film, Ringu was better then the original. While the The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo remake was far superior to its foreign counterpart and the Fincher version still was a disappointment. The book spoiled me against both film versions.

Ladies and gentlemen? One of the best unrecognized directors in recent times:
Steve McQueen. Nope. Not that Steve McQueen.

@lillyandrew,
Saw doesn't really apply Lillyandrew since the movie came out 9 years ago and this thread is for movies you haven't seen since they haven't been released or currently in the movie theater and you haven't gotten around to.

On the unusual front, JJ Abrams has some kind of mystery project. Is it a movie or will it be a new TV series? Time will tell... hopefully.

@tsarstepan,
This one has Oscar buzz in its DNA:
Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman
The Railway Man (2013)

Quote:
Eric Lomax was one of thousands of Allied prisoners of war forced to work on the construction of the Thai/Burma railway during WW2. His experiences, after the secret radio he built to bring news and hope to his colleagues was discovered, left him traumatised and shut off from the world. Years later, he met Patti, a beautiful woman, on a train and fell in love. Patti was determined to rid Eric of his demons. Discovering that the young Japanese officer who haunted her husband was still alive, she faced a terrible decision. Should Eric be given a chance to confront his tormentor? Would she stand by him, whatever he did? Written by Anonymous

@tsarstepan,
Movie trailers (found on Apple's website) are the modern symbol of popcorn access.

You know the celebrity-gossip godmother Joan Rivers can be seen on the red carpet of the Academy Awards or presenting her chic-friendly accessories and clothing on the Home Shopping Network, since she represents modern human interest in eye candy festivals.

This sort of thing is included in the movie trailer of Woody Allen's Hollywood (USA) film "Celebrity" (1998), which you can find on YouTube.

Hail to Joan Rivers!

Easily one of the best comedies this year is a small independent movie from the director of The Descendents and Sideways! Alexander Payne is one of my all time favorite directors and he doesn't disappoint here.
