@Eva,
No, she wouldn't be responsible for such things. I have a sufficiency of life assurances by virtue of employment and an outside agency. I told her as much, she didn't care.

@rcooper6,
You are listed as the policy owner? Really?

In that case, you owe your sister some premium $$

@Cycloptichorn,
I've been following this - although this is the first I've responded as I really am far from an expert in insurance policies. But to me from the beginning I also thought it was creepy in most situations that a sister would want to have a policy on her brother.

Curious - do you know why she would want such a policy? To me it is creepy because it is like betting for your death. If you don't have a vested financial interest (like a child/parent/spouse/business partner) in a person why else would you want a life insurance policy on them?

@Cycloptichorn,
Oh - and I agree that you were not doing anything wrong. If I were in your place I would have wanted to know too. Not so much the financial purposes (whether I were entitled to the money), but why a sibling would want a life insurance policy on me? Maybe it is morbid or parinoid (sp), but I'd be worry about what I'd eat over her house...

@ehBeth,
I would not agree with that - she did this on her own, he did not ask her to pay these premiums.

I think she was secretly poisoning him - you are the "owner" - who is the beneficiary?

No, she doesn't. She never asked her sis to pay that and her sis certainly doesn't seem to have been doing so simply out of the goodness of her heart.

ehBeth: Listen, my sister elected to continue the policy of her own free will. I asked her years ago to allow me to begin paying the premiums, remember, I stated this earlier, she REFUSED. Furthermore, given the clandestine nature of her intent, I don't feel I owe her ANYTHING.

Linkat: You don't have to be an expert. Listen, you hit the nail square on the head. And that is because you are a reasonable individual. Thank you sooo much.

Linkat: LOL!!! Have no fear, I...myself for one, don't eat there, and never have. But you know, all kidding aside, I don't know why my sister carried life insurance on me, (my other three brothers... and... and... Dad, can't forget Dad). She'll give no definitive reason, it leaves me to theorize that she did it for the potential pay-off amount. Isn't that just horrible to say about another sibling? But you have to know the kind of person my sister truly is, in order to understand how I can make such a dreadful statement about her.

@rcooper6,
Actually I am not reasonable - at least according to several others that think I have emotional scarred my children because I don't want them to take candy from strangers (aka people they don't know).

Linkat: I don't know just yet. I haven't received the papers outlining the particulars. I would not at all be suprised if the beneficiary, or one of them, has my sister's name listed. Why else would she have been so adamantly opposed to giving me access to it.

@rcooper6,
I was assuming that - but who knows maybe she is just an odd bird.
