@okie,
I see. We shouldn't look at what the person did.
Does that apply to Hitler too? I'm sure he would agree with you today which would make him a conservative.

@okie,
I'm not the one that applies actions vs words based on nothing but desire to categorize people to suit my needs.

@parados,
Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Regan, Bush I and 1/3 of Bush II were all Democrat compared to the Republican party of today. I'm more conservative than Eisenhower, the current Republicans have entrenched themselves into a corner that may be their final act. Guess they may have to go back to being known as the Know Nothing Party. It would help!

If Ike were still around today, he'd be like Colin Powell, a Republican military man who's appalled at what his party has become.

As you might have noticed, Thomas Jefferson died almost two centuries ago. He's not deeply conversant with what's going on in America today. Obama is. Obama's right.

Obama's been right all along. Which is why he was elected by a majority of Americans and re-elected by a majority of Americans. That's the way the country works. that's why the American economy has recovered and is growing, while the European economies which followed conservative economic policies is still in the grip of recession. Get a grip, H2O. Speaking of lies, I don't remember Obama ever claiming a counjtry had WMD's and was 45 minutes away from world destruction.

On the other hand, democratic government sincerely operating for the good of its participant voters is the least oppressive. Good thing that's what Obama is doing.
