@ossobuco,
At 21,467 feet, India’s Mount Shivling rises toward a clear night sky. Here in the Garhwal Himalaya lies the Gangotri glacier—and the headwaters of the Ganges River.

About 4.5 million Nemophila menziesii—a California wildflower commonly known as baby blue eyes—carpet the hills at Hitachi Seaside Park in Japan. According to photographer Hiroki Kondu, who calls this landscape “the blue universe,” the flowers peak from the end of April to the first week of May.

The Mldivian Islands could be gone within the next 100 years in case the water continues to rise.

@vonny,
Vonny,

a lovely picture of the Swedish coast on the Baltic sea. Much more idyllic than the Westcoast. But on the westcoast the water is warmer for swimming and it is the favorite vacation coast for the Swedes.
There are also sandy beaches.

@vonny,
I grew up along this coast,so I really like the "simplicity" in nature.
The famous book "Nils Holgerson`s wonderful trip" by Selma Lagerlöf every part of Sweden is described except this part.
That my mother did not like so she never read the book for me. Otherwise she read a lot.

@saab,
I looked up the book - what a lovely story. Here's what was said about it

Quote:
Considered a masterpiece since first published in 1907, this enchanting, remarkably original work by a Nobel Prize-winning author records the adventures of a mischievous 14-year-old who is changed into a tiny being, transported across the Swedish countryside on the back of a goose, and learns about nature, geography, and folklore.

Was it aimed solely at children, or adults too?
