@ossobuco,
I should explain that - it's still a semi arid desert, but it didn't have trees there (according to an early academic boss of mine on the subject) until people imported them. There are native trees in California, just not native to right in the LA basin area (home now of Beverly Hills and much else).

@vonny,
I also always liked weeping willow.
I wwould not like to have one in my garden - for me they were always a tree which needed lots of space around them and water. It is a tree one admires from a certain distance.

The forrests north of Copenhagen are often beech forrest.It is so lovelyin the spring when the trees just sprung out.
May1st is a holiday, so my parents and I tried to go to Denmark on that day to look at the forrest bringing a picknick, taking the ferry back and forth.
It probably did not happen as often as it is in my memories.

@saab,
Beautiful memory there.

Here's a slide show of the highway 1 route in California, often right by the sea.
A lot of beautiful beaches and other lovely places are among those photos, and many of those are in my own memory bank. I've driven most of that highway several times in some cases and most lengths of it countless times, except for the Mendicino/Fort Bragg area at the end of the batch of photos; never did get there.

What beautiful pictures. Nature is so much more dramatic than here in Scandinavia. I really like to look at them and on the same time it is overwhelming. I like things calmer and less colourful - except fall. Then any amount of colours.

Another wonderful picture. How much patience is behind that picture.

@vonny,
Sigh, says a woman with a cheap I Love Lucca pin.

Here's one from the Guardian's this week in wildlife series -

@saab,
I remember - we both weren't too fond of the color blasting wallpaper in a house we both liked in the real estate porn thread.

The place I lived in northern California isn't a twin of Scandinavia, I'm sure, but it was very different from a lot of the highway 1 photos. Of course I need to scan and post some and tell a bit about it.

I'm deeply connected to the California coast, but New Mexico where I live now is beautiful too. It's just not in my heart and brain the way California is.
Or the parts of Italy I've been to are. Or Chicago, which I lived in for five years as a child and still have dreams that seem to be set in the city.

@ossobuco,
I like these mirror-like water reflection pictures of nature. The sense of quiet and peace is so endearing!

@cicerone imposter,
So what clown is thumbing you down for such a nice post?

I do like water reflections too, Tak.
I have one framed, that I took in a park, that shows only wavy trunked palm trees and sort of blurry sky - which is part of the water reflection.
Can't scan it though, since it's printed on 11 x 14 photo paper and I don't have the patience to fine the old negative and try to find some place to get it printed small.

@vonny,
That's Tuscany all right! That view is so typical. Loved visiting there last year. It's good wine country too!

@cicerone imposter,
It's a photo by the digital photographer, Adam Jones. He has a lot of beautiful photographs on his site ...
