Like dadpad, I'm a bit concerned that none of your sammiches have Vegemite.
Hardly seems worth the effort, without the Veg!
Sliced, dried apple goes well on a peanut butter sandwich. Can't call it an original, but it is good.
bethie, That apple jelly, Swiss cheese, bacon samwich sounds droolacious.
Can't comment on beets and peanut butter. I don't eat these things.
@Roberta,
no herring/beet salad for you? your grandmother's pickled herring would be poifect for that
Know ye,
that the "Original Samwiches"
were attributed to John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich,
who purportedly was at his gaming table, shooting craps in the 1700s,
when he commanded his underling [probably a covert Democrat]
to "go and bring me a slab of meat, between 2 slices of bread"
so that he 'd not soil his hands, nor the dice, while so engaged.
I read this in a comic book about 60 years ago, so its authenticity
is beyond any reasonable dispute. Its hard to believe that b4 the 1700s,
the guys did not have any sandwiches.

bethie, Poifect, except for the beets. According to my mother, beets were the first food I showed an active and adamant dislike of. I've tried them since. Still no go.
David, If you read that info in a comic book, I agree. An indisputable source. Hey, Oil, thanks for the samwiches.
