and moonflowers.

and some red stuff that Ima hate in a few years that gets really tall, and grows anywhere. think beautiful weed...

and I convinced gram to let me add some begonias at her place. and a coupla snap dragons.

we do this dance every year...

we still need some vinca. and a hosta...

it's early yet. our weather is like a hot April. weird...

gonna get my late crops in this week.

and pull up a solomon's seal to send to Noo York City.

asked mr vw, and he thinks it will live in an apartment, too.

we'll never know till we try it, eh...?

got grams leftover snaps, and some asiatic lily that was in need of balancing out. I took 3...

@ehBeth,
thanks.

the dog didn't survive the visit...

gonna go make a place in the orchard now.

I didn't want to take her back with us, smoky needed to go have a beer.

I'll go back and get her in a bit.

I keep thinking I will wake up and find all of this to be just a bad dream...

Sorry to hear about the dog, kid. And sorry you're left with taking care of everything.

Sigh.

@Roberta,
it is what it is...

got me a hole dug. I might add that digging impromptu holes in pasture land is not to be advised. I put 20 gallons of water in the spot before I left. very glad I did...

gonna start the grill, and see if the old man wants to watch me bury her or not.

I want to plant something on the site that will live with prairie water. it's too far from the well for upkeep. mebbe a butterfly bush.

I put her under a medium sized walnut tree in the back corner of the orchard.

she was a great dog.

blue heeler shepherd mix.

back after I'm done, prolly.

Yes, it's been a pretty relentless run of horrible events, Rocky.
I hope the dog's death is the last one for quite a while.
You certainly deserve break, you poor thing.

@msolga,
oh well. things could be worse.

not sure how, but certain they could...

think Ima get me a new lawn ornament. give the police something to do next time they are around...

"Police shoot gator, find out it's a lawn ornament"

"Police responding to an alligator sighting in a suburban Kansas City pond took quick action to dispatch the big reptile.

It wasn't until after the second rifle shot bounced off the beast Sunday that the three Independence officers realized it was a concrete lawn ornament.

Independence police spokesman Tom Gentry says the department received a call from a man who said a gator had been spotted in the woods.

Gentry says the alligator was in the weeds near a tree by a pond and it looked real. An officer shot the gator twice in the head — per instructions from a conservation officer — before realizing it wasn't moving.

Gentry says the landowner told officers he put the fake gator there to keep children off his property."

they shot him twice to be sure.

I can just imagine the conversation...

Got him.

No you didn't...

I'm sure I did.

He didn't even flinch.

Maybe he was already dead.

Shoot him again, just to be sure...

I feel badly for Stinky. he's miserable...

I may have to look for someone to take him in. He dint choose this, and I don't look to be going elsewhere any time soon.
