thanks for the well wishes.

I begged for one more month of water, but...

I'm going to talk to my landlord tomorrow (if I can travel) and give my notice here.

if I don't jump now, I may not get to choose...

and Ima brush up on my masonry skills, so I can brick around the stove in a fashionable way. already got a big woodpile, and lights. plumbing to follow next week, weather permitting.

@dadpad,
the caterers failed to properly label the grilled veggies yesterday.

I accidentally ate a bite of tofu.

that might be better with vegemite on it, no?

the good news for today is...

they finished the new cell tower, and my phone works at my house now.

the bad news is...

I gave notice today, and it's only my house for 30 more days...

ok. we've got summer weather back this week, so healthy or not, we gotta bust ass.

got my plumbing project staked out, and went to pulling bricks.

I had white bricks as flower borders all around the house here. mine. and I loaded them all in the truck and piled them at the farm. I've got enough to build a hearth in the cabin.

Unless someone knows why concrete brick should not be used in said fashion...

Just make sure it has good ventilation to the outdoors so you don't gas yourself with monoxide.

@Butrflynet,
It's a pot belly stove. cast iron. and there is existing chimney from a former gas furnace. easy match.

the bricks will be the floor and wall under and behind the stove.

to not burn down the cabin, and to resonate heat...

6. Moose Dropping Festival, Talkeetna, Alaska - July
Craftsmen hawk art and jewelry made from moose dung, and in the end, people in balloons drop big old droppings on numbered targets. Whoever holds the same number as the target, wins.

Mowed a road tonight.

back to the horse barn. and cut more trees than Davey firken Crocket.

my hatchet hand hurts. guessin' my shoulder will follow.

moved a half a ton of brick, and now just gotta wait for finances to catch up, and the stove is ready to get built in.

hit 90 today, so the weather is being friendly.

I'm sure that won't hold for the month, it is October.

and moved my patio out there, so's I gotta place to relax that feels like me. set the chiminea up and everything...

27 more days.

@Rockhead,
In case you need some inspiration while taking a break from all that heavy lifting...

Remember this PBS show about Dick Proenneke's cabin in the Alaskan wilderness? I enjoyed learning about him and his ingenuity.

@Rockhead,
But maybe there'll be photos? 'Cause obviously I'm interested in the whole building/renovating thing.
